i love the 90s

you know how vh1 has their specials 'i love the 70s' and 'i love the 80s'
i am waiting for them to do 'i love the 90s'
lets have our own little show

lets remember the things that made the 90s great.

topics include:

-tv shows
-cartoons
-movies
-music
-toys
-trends (clothes, hairstyles, etc...)
-historic events

my absolute favorite part of the 90s was the early to mid part of the decade.
remember c&c music factory : 'everybody dance now' LOL!
color me badd, mc hammer, new kids on the block!!! anyone remember the nktob cartoon?

'fresh prince of bel-air', 'full house', 'perfect strangers', 'alf'....oh the memories

or how about when nintendo was insanely popular!!! anyone remember the nintendo cereal?!

the 90s was truly awesome....*sigh*

I'll play as long as I get to be Mo Rocca. That guy cracks me up. (him and Hal Sparks!) hahaha.

TV Shows:
-When the "Saved By The Bell" kids graduated high school in 1993. Talk about a momentous occasion!

-The onset of "SNICK" (Saturday Night Nickelodeon) with classics like "All That" (kids version of SNL) and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" (kids version of "Tales from the Crypt").

-Nick At Nite morphing into "TV Land."

-500+ channel cable.

Toys:
-Electronic "Pets" (Tamagotchi, etc.)

-Games geared at making young girls feel older (Mall Madness, Pretty Pretty Princess, etc.)

Trends:
-Big hair that bled over from the 80s...

-The fact that the 90s don't really have distinct fashion all their own because they picked up styles from previous decades (punk from the 80s, bell bottomed hip huggers from the 70s, short skirts and boots from the 60s, etc.)

-8 year olds with cell phones

-THE INTERNET

Movies:
-"Clueless" reviving, like, the valley-girl, like, status.

Music:
-Grunge...when every plaid-shirt wearing bumpkin suddenly found himself trendy...

-BOY BANDS...

-"Mayonaise and Peanut-Butter" combination of Rap/Rock.

Historical Events:
-Surge of High School violence

-Cloning

-various European and Asian revolts...

I'll admit it...I had a Tamagotchi

While the 90's is my generation...I'm not a big fan. There were some good times, but I think the 90's was a generation of copycats. Did we really have our own uniqe style like some eras did?

I think I should have been a teenager in the 70's.

the macarena... c'mon... you know you were doing it too

the east coast/west coast rap wars grew to a new extreme.

raves were still on the underground.

Janet Jackson's 'Janet' album.

Melrose Place and all the goofy spin offs that never went anywhere.

I sooooo wanted a tamagatchi when i was a kid. All of my friends had one and they always died.

For the most part, I agree that nineties fashion was all about trends from the past three decades coming back into style. As for the other fads...

Music: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Spice Girls, Hanson

TV Shows: Seinfeld, Friends, Frasier, E.R., Singled Out

Toys: Beanie Babies, Furbies, Pokemon

Fashion: "No Fear" shirts--(was this the early 90s?), Mary Janes, capri pants--the ones that ended right past your knees, baby doll dresses, back-pack purses, fanny paks

These are still around... but I remember them being everywhere at one point in the 90s-- chokers and Y-necklaces. And I remember getting a few hair wraps done in my hair-- you get them done at the boardwalk or at fairs... the person takes a little strand of your hair and wraps it in different colors of string. And remember that dance move/song, the tootsie roll? And Britney Spears revived the whole school girl look with Baby One More Time. I owned a few bra strap headbands as well.

Ah the '90s! The decade that gave us Grunge rock, th Crocodile Hunter, Clinton-Gore, Generation X, Slackers, Good Will Hunting, Virtual Pets, Virtual Reality, Beavis and Butthead, Goths, Zima, Pepsi Clear and "Get Out The Vote" Campaign.

My generation is the 1980s and I am a fan of "I Love the 80s". I also like "I Love the 70s". I would like to see a series called "I Love the 60s".

I had nintendo in the mid 80s with that robot that go against you. Also had the power glove. I was cool.

I identified with way too many things from "I Love the 80s"

For the '90s:
- OJ
- All the Bill Clinton scandals
- The original Gulf War
- The World Wide Web
- The ubiquity of cell phones and Palm Pilots
- A couple more Star Trek spinoffs (because TNG wasn't enough )
- Hmm, what else...

Thought of more--

Sega Genesis, loved playing Sonic

VW Beetles came back

Those necklaces that instead of having chains, they had clear wire, and stones were attached
