University Of Georgia Rush

I was up at UGA helping out at the Gamma Phi beta house (with Houstonchica -- Andrea -- and a collegiate Gamma Phi named Jamie from Rome GA who knows Carnation) -- there are about 1300 girls going thru rush and quota is expected to be about 62.

Anyone on GC care to post their rush story -- from either side? Feed our hunger ladies!!!

On the way to the house, I drove down Milledge (in that ever-frustrating pursuit for a legal parking spot - lol!) and all the rushees were just leaving the various houses from their first parties -- there were 12 that day!! All the girls looked so adorable and YOUNG!!!! There were approx 750 girls at the Gamma Phi house thru the day, which was sundress day -- the girls all looked so cute -- I felt like such an old fuddy-duddy!

And the university Greek Life office uses city buses to transport to girls from house to house!!! I was amused to see - instead of the street destination of the particular bus above the drivers window - the words Panhellenic Rush that alternately flashed on the sign!!!

I was thrilled that the daughter of my pledge sister is still on the Gamma Phi list as well as four of the local girls I wrote recs on! I wish I lived closer to Athens as I am sure I would be one of those pesty alums who hangs out at the house all daY LOL!

It is really exciting to be able to help out -- I was helping with vote counting and in the kitchen and cleaning up and taking out trash and tying ribbons on the lemonade glasses -- anywhere they needed help!

Wish I could be there for the rest of the week. Today was skit day, Prefs are tomorrow and Bid day is Mon.

Mr. Carnation's cousin is rushing! I heard that yesterday she went back to the 12 she wanted and I'm not surprised; she's breathtakingly gorgeous and brilliant as well. We're waiting to hear where she's going today.

It helps to be beautiful--her first cousin is an alum of a sorority that's very, very strong at UGa and her cell phone rang while she was on vacation last month. Cousin answered it and it was the rush chairman of that chapter at UGa--she said, "I have to know more about this gorgeous girl you've written a rec for!" I mean, how often does that happen?

Carnation, did your hubby's cousin go back to Gamma Phi Beta? Just curious if we made her list of picks -- sounds like she could have all the UGA GLOs she desires eating out of the palm of her hand....sigh...oh, to be so gorgeous and brilliant............must be nice..... Of course I am a old (and I look it!) cranky broad.....I guess in my own special way I AM breathtaking though!!!

I haven't heard back from her other cousin yet about which 6 parties she returned to today...I do know that they had to get up at 6:30 to get their returns! The cousin is having a children's clothes party today but promised to get back with me ASAP.

Here's how gorgeous this kid is..she went into the journalism department to talk to the professors about that major and her mom told me that these professors grabbed both of them and told them that she must major in broadcast journalism so that face could be seen on TV!

I had several calls from our UGA chapter about the daughter of my pledge sister...she is a total doll! She is a double Gamma Phi legacy -- her mom and great grandma; as well as a Kappa Legacy -- grandma. But y'all can guess where I hope she pledges!

I just tried to access the greek website at UGA, but it's under construction. So - which groups are involved? I know that there's an Alpha Delta Pi chapter, but who else?

I hope your husband's cousin finds the home she wants but...
I can tell you that I had the opportunity to view the gpa's of all of the rushees at UGA this year and to have a 1200 SAT score and high school gpa of 3.6 is pretty standard. There are many, many very pretty and attractive PNM's at UGA who are also high academic achievers. And, it is not unusual for actives and alumna to receive requests for more information on a particular PNM. Just want to keep everyone realistic because it is a very competitive rush this year.

I can't wait to see what happens at UGA! I hope that they have worked out the kinks, so that there is not a repeat of last year...

Cele and Andrea, I am sure you not only had a wonderful time helping out, but that you were also invaluable resources for the collegiates.

Let us know if you hear anymore information, please?
