Question Philanthropy

I was wondering if any of you would like to share what you guys do for events to raise money! I think that it might help others get a heads up and you would be contributing in raising money without actually having to do anything!

Hopefully some of you will like this idea!

Phi-Esta

Here is Long Beach, California, we love our mexican food. So we creatively thought up the theme "Phi-Esta." We had a local dj perform, we also had a local mexican resturant cater the event. We charged $3 for pre-sale tickets so we had an idea of how many would possibly show and then sold tickets at the door for $4. All the money raised was given back to our philanthropy. It was a hit! Family, friends, sisters, other sororities and frats came to support! We're doing it again this year!

We also do Phi-Ball. Its a fraternity kickball tournament. The sisters are seperated into teams to coach the fraternities. Girls usually went to the guys houses and cooked a hearty breakfast, gave 'em team t-shirts and played kickball all day. We got donations from local businesses to help support our raffle giveaway at the end of the day. Each sister had to sell a certain dollar amount of to be able to run the event, as well as the fraternities paying the philanthropy event participation fee. Its a great day in the sun. At the half time, we supply lunch and even have a "kick-line" competition. The fraternities have to have a choreographed kick-line, just like in the old days at the saloons. Not all the guys have to do it, but it gets them a great hoot and hollar and a trophy if they win!

These are just a couple that I enjoy that I think might be really fun for you ladies! let me know if you have any questions!

Lightbulb Texas Tech Alpha Phi philanthropy

Here are some of our philanthropies.

Ivy Cup Fraternity Volleyball Challenge

What could be more fun than a competitive round of volleyball on a spring afternoon? If you're participating in the Ivy Cup Fraternity Volleyball Challenge you know the answer--raising money of cardiac care and research!

Over the years, participating fraternities have helped us raise thousands of dollars for heart-related charities. That's why we say, the Ivy Cup gets hearts pumping!

This has been a HUGE success. The men enter two, three, sometimes FOUR teams. The guys love it, so it's easy and fun!

Heart Throb Fraternity Challenge

Our annual Valentine's Day Heart Throb Fraternity Challenge, is one of our most highly anticipated events of the year. Each fraternity nominates one "heart throb" to compete with "heart throbs" from the other fraternities to see who is truly the Ultimate Greek Heart Throb! Through various activities, the competitors raise money to help fight heart disease. The newly crowned Ultimate Greek Heart Throb and his fraternity are treated to a dinner at the Alpha Phi Lodge.

Cardiac Arrest

During our annual "Cardiac Arrest" project, prominent members of the Lubbock community are "arrested" and must post "bail" before being set free. This event consistently raises thousands of dollars for cardiac care and research. This raises a lot of money, but it take SO MUCH TIME that we discontinued it. Our women just did not have enough time to adequately plan and promote it.
