Thanks so much! I had only come across one of those websites so I'm looking forward to checking out the others.
In the past few years for our fall kick-off/recruitment, we've had a dinner either at Neiman Marcus or a country club. There was an ice-breaker and lots of introductions and speakers but not much mingling. It was nice but boring. Our group is very social and fun and these kick-offs didn't really show the true personality of our group.
This year we're going to have a scavenger hunt with stations set up that tell a little bit about our chapter at each place...service, sisterhood, Foundation fundraising, awards, etc. At each station, you'll get your card signed/stamped plus a couple of other "Find that Zeta that is/did/has...". When you're done, put it in the bowl for a drawing for a prize.
The food is going to be more of a pasta bar or appetizers. (We're still working that out.) The speakers are going to be limited to introductions and then we're going to have a mini-golf tournament with prizes for low-scoring team. I really hope this works out well. So far everyone seems to like the idea but it is always hard to do something new.
