What would you ask a sorority?
If you were a potential new member, what do you think a common question you would ask a sister during formal recruitment would be? I am trying to prepare a list of questions for my chapter to be prepared to answer.

These are the most common ones that we get:
"What's your social life like?"
"Do all sisters have to live in the house? What's it like living here?"
"What's your national philanthropy? Your local one?" (obviously elaborate)
"Why did you join _____?"
"What was rush like for you?"
"What's the time commitment like?"
"Do you guys have a frat that you associate with?" - can be a danger question of A) boxing yourself in with another organization and B) treading in the 'no discussion' waters of boys, booze, etc.

I've been helping with the new student orientations this summer for NCSU. My work being with Greek Life. I deal with both parents and students who have a ton of questions...here are the most popular ones:
> If I rush my freshman year, will my grades go down?
> How much time a week do I have to devote to my sorority during the new member period? After?
> Will I have to live in the house?
> Do you really think it's a worth while experience?
> Do you still have friends that are not Greek?
> Do you have to go to things (mixers, philanthrophy events, etc.) if you don't want to?
Those are really the big ones, from both PNM's and parents...

So true! Everyone wants to know why your dues are more, what's that funny piece of jewelry you're wearing, why isn't there a keg at your rush party, etc?

NEVER underestimate a pnm asking those questions!!! I've been asked why we didn't have 'real greek letters' before and if we could change the colors...

Yes, I was stumped. I believe in being uber-nice to everyone (kill em with kindness) but it's hard when you want to bitch-slap someone for being that stupid. I just changed the subject and moved on...

One that was asked over and over:
What's a sleeping porch?
and
What's it like to sleep there? Do you have to sleep there?

Is this ? asked often?
What is it like to have a big sister/mom?
I have to admit that when I first heard about having a big sister and so forth, I was so excited since my real big sister isn't there for me at all.
I just love the whole idea about being able to have really close friendships and bonds
