Emmy Nominations are IN!

Well, looks like another great list of nominees.

I'm pissed that "Gilmore Girls" didn't get ONE nomination and Amy Brennaman wasn't nominated this year, but otherwise, looks ok.

You can go here to read the list of nominees, the list is WAY too long to post on here:

I dunno... the EMMY's seem a little to repetitive... Sopranos, Six Feet Under, 24, Sopranos, Six Feet Under, 24.... they are good shows, but I still think that some of the nominations would be better spend on lesser known shows that have really great actors in them.

What does everyone think of the new reality catagory?

I actually do agree with you. I don't watch any of the shows you listed...What the hype? Are they THAT much better than the others? I don't think so...

waaaah! I can't believe Monk didn't get an Emmy nomination. ITs one of the best shows on television. Hollywood Reporter even listed it as a major contender!

Stupid Emmys.

I don't watch The Sopranos, but SFU is definitely worth the hype in my mind...this last season was really good. My only complaint is that they need to have the dead people interact with the Fishers more...like they did the first season. And I miss the commercials for the funeral home products.

24 was also excellent, but I don't think the acting was all that stellar...it was just a highly entertaining/suspenseful show.

West Wing has the best ensemble acting ever...

I have the same question about comedy shows, though. I don't watch Sex & the City, Everybody Loves Raymond or Will & Grace (occasionally do, but it isn't on the TIVO season pass), so I don't get the hype for those shows....

And the Sheens' Visa commerical should win. That is the funniest

I am so over the idea that anything GOOD may happen with the Emmys. They nominate and honor the SAME shows and people year after year. I just have such a bone to pick with the Emmy people.

First of all, Gilmore Girls is constantly being praised as the "best show on television." Yet, it's NEVER been nominated for an Emmy. I understand that the show may be hard to classify as either a comedy or a drama, but seriously! Lauren Graham is funnier in her 'drama/comedy show' than all of the 'comedic' actresses nominated.

Speaking of actresses nominated... Jennifer Aniston? Maybe it's just because I hate Rachel with a passion, but she is NOT the funniest actress on that show! Poor Courteney Cox. She's the only one who has never been nominated and she's always been the funniest to me.

And whats with every SATC girl being nominated every year EXCEPT for Kristin Davis? I feel bad for her too. I love Charlotte- she's been my favorite since the beginning!

And The Sopranos was NOMINATED?! It hasn't been on air for what seems like FOREVER! When was the last new episode? I feel like it didn't air at all this year and if thats true, that HARDLY seems fair that its being nominated.

I just think most of the shows are so overrated at this point. The quality of the shows and actors has decreased since they were in their prime, yet Emmy doesn't care. If they've been nominated once, they'll surely be nominated for the rest of the years the show is on.

Grrrr... rant over.

Actually...they are. HBO consistently has had the best programming for a few years. A lot of it has to do with that HBO can get away with more than other networks can; they can tackle racier, more violent, overall more dramatic topics, and they do so well. They can have shows like "The Sopranos" and "Sex and the City" that other networks just can't do.

The Sopranos is a great show...one of the best in a number of years. I haven't really gotten into Six Feet Under, but from what I've seen it is also extremely solid.

I also think Monk got shafted, in my opinion.

Right on...HBO, not being totally dependent on the Nielson ratings the way that the Big Three, Fox, UPN, and WB are, can work on a show, since its survival isn't dependent on the favor of the masses in the way that it is on network television. Think about it..."Sex and the City" didn't do that well its first two seasons--had it been on a network, it probably would have been canned.

HBO Original Programming is the only stuff I watch nowadays. Everything else is so lowbrow and watered down...

It does seem like this year's nominees are a repeat of 2002. Critics have been saying that SFU and West Wing didn't have the best seasons but they still get nominated. The same goes for Sex and the City--love the show but season 5 sucked. Meanwhile newer shows totally get the shaft. And I don't think the Emmy people even realize that the WB and UPN exist (hello Buffy and Sarah Michelle Gellar?)

I agree with you I Heart AXO that Courtney Cox should have gotten a nomination. She is the funniest of the girl Friends in my opinion. But I think her problem is that she enters herself in the lead actress category. If she went for supporting actress she could get a nod. And I don't get why they keep screwing over Kristin Davis. I really want Debra Messing to win this year, since she's the only W&G cast member who hasn't gotten the award, but she's just as funny.

I only religiously watch about 8 network scripted shows:

* Gilmore Girls
* SATC
* Judging Amy
* Friends
* Will and Grace
* Less Than Perfect
* Law and Order: SVU
* Providence (cancelled)

I'm HIGHLY disappointed that NONE of the FABLUOUS female cast members of Gilmore Girls were nominated. Lauren Graham, Alexis Bleidel, Melissa McCarthy, Liza Weil, Keiko Agena....They ALL had fabulous storylines this year! THEY WERE RIPPED OFF!!!!!!!

I completely agree about Courtney Cox. She is always the funniest of the three women. I'm so tired of Lisa Kudrow...

Kristen Davis, after this Sunday's SATC, with her hysterical screaming at Evan Handler, who can dispute her skill as an actress???

Sara Rue and Andrea Parker carry Less Than Perfect...I hope they are noticed next season...

EMMY NOMS ARE A BIT WORN DOWN...

But, I still think it's not a bad list...BUT GILMORE GIRLS NEEDS SOME EMMYS!!!!

I wasn't impressed with the nominations, either. Why does HBO get nominees but Showtime and things like that don't? Queer as Folk is an excellent series. I think it deserves boatloads of awards. I am glad that "Soldier's Girl" got 2 nominations. It was an incredible movie and I cried so hard at the end. "Normal" was also an excellent movie, and very moving. "Robin Williams Live on Broadway" is hilarious. I've seen it 6 times and I haven't gotten tired of it yet

slight correction: Monk the TV show did not get a nominatin but Tony Sholoub did (for best comedic actor).

So the Emmys have gone up slightly in my opinion.

That's good then - I didn't read the nominations, but I would have been surprised if Sholhoub (sp?) didn't get nominated. He may pull off a surprise like Michael Chiklis did last year for "The Shield" and end up winning.
