Help with Government Jobs

Does anyone have any good advice about getting a GS government job? I am a military spouse in Germany looking for work with a Bachelors or Masters Degrees in Exercise Science. I'll pretty much take any type of work even if its outside my field. Any of you in a similar situation? Thanks

Well I have applied to a few government jobs. You have an advantage since your husband is in the military. They usually award more "points" to vetrens and milatary wives. Just go to all the . gov site and fill out applications for thing you could qulaify for. You have a better chance than most getting one.

Believe me I have done all of that. I guess there just isn't that much hiring on this post right now! I wonder if that is the case with most government jobs in general? Oh well!

I don't know if this helps but:

My mother works for the gov and she says you have to go ahead and apply so that you can be on their "registry" that way when a job becomes available you will be able to apply. Here in Tennesse that means you need to fill out the paperwork and be on the "registry" for a month before they will consider you.

I would do cable connection if I was in the states. I know all the DGs over here and they are either in the military or a military spouse in the same boat! Thanks for the suggestions! I did my army resume builder and I self nominate for jobs then you are just supposed to wait for them to call you

I have a GS job. I started by having a summer hire position then I moved to student hire and most student hires can move to a regular GS position after that. They have a ton of programs that you can try to apply to. Fill out is many applications as possible. Good luck!

Have you found anythihg yet, or is the search still ongoing? If you are still looking please tell me where you are stationed. I assume you are command sponsored so you would have hiring priority. As in most things its location, location, ...
Most installations in Germany have openings for clerical jobs and the larger posts have much more in variety. Its easier to find something in Stuttgart or Heidelberg than at a one battalion kaserne out in the boonies. You might have to consider commuting to work if nothing is available in your immediate location. Anyway the jobs are designed to support the needs of the army so that can limit availability. I'm a bit confused by your degrees, do you have both a BA and an MA? Also, Exercise Science can be confusing in that to the Army that would mean tactical field exercise analysis but could mean something very different in other settings.
I looked at the USAREUR/7th Army job site and there seemed to be lots of openings. Please advise and lets see if we can turn up something.
