Post SUMMER!!!

SORORS AND SISTERFRIENDS,

Well, I am happy to say that the school year is officially over! (At least for my school district) I thought it would be interesting to share our summer plans with each other...In what ways are the women and friends of AKA impacting the world this summer?

Soror Captivator,

I believe I have lost my mind briefly. I am teaching summer school. Yes, and educator working during the summer. OH The HORROR!

In mid July, my family and I are going to Cocoa Beach, Fla. My son is playing in an AAU tornament.

I plan to go to Charleston to visit my Mother during the month of August. Do some reading.....and before you know it, back to work.

Have a safe and happy summer!

Deja

Cool

Friday was the last day for our students. Tomorrow is the last day for teachers (Records Day). After that, it is a tradition for the teacher's to "club hop" around the area. Club owners help teachers to celebrate the end of the year with Free food (all the trimmings) and fun. But this year, I have added something special. To end the day, I am hosting a celebration at a state park. I have rented a cabin for the day for those co-workers and friends that do not "Club hop" anymore. I thought that would be a nice way for the more seasoned co-workers to have some fun as well. And I completed my Alternate Certification this semester, so you know I have to CELEBRATE! But, before that I am going to pay a visit to the Club I frequent on a regular basis.
After that, I will be a woman of leisure for the rest of the summer! So I am going to take everything one day at a time. Whenever I decide to pick up and go, I will. I plan to visit California and Texas. Sorry for the long post! Enjoy your summer!

I envy my Sorors and Sisterfriends in education.

For me, it is the same ole, same ole...get up at the crack of dawn, get the family ready for work/daycare and off to work.

I do plan to take some vacation to get some much needed rest.

Taykimson, I'm feeling your pain. I, too will be continuing with the "same ole, same ole". I hope to get some vacation time in during July. I'd love to take my daughter to Disney World. She's real into Mickey and Minnie, Pooh and Tigger and all things Nickeloden right now.

(What's up Soror Captivator#6? I got your e I'll get back at you soon.)

Soror PearlsNivy,

My husband and I took our girls to Disney World in late February. They had a ball and they are still talking about it. I was concerned that my 3-year old wouldn't appreciate it - but she did!

I'm ready to go back!

Soror,

I'm so glad to hear that your three year old enjoyed Disney World. My daughter is three also. If you don't mind, maybe you can give me some pointers for a smooth trip to an amusement park. I'd really appreciate it.

Thumbs up

sorors for me it is going to be the same ole thang too, get my butt up and go to work everyday....I did mention in a topic similar
to this before that I want to have a good ole fashion summer, just relaxing, playing cards, drinking lemonade, sitting on my porch listening to music, going to the park, and maybe some amusement parks, but I don't
really want to travel...I hate planes (sorry flight attendants and pilots).... Hopefully, I can just get some R&R in and read my self help books....

Soror PearlsNivy,

Definetely take a backpack with essentials, snacks for between meals if you plan to stay the entire day at the park. For a 3 year old you will either have to bring a stroller or rent one, those little legs will not hold up all day!

We tried to do Magic Kingdom in one day. I'd advise 2 days. There is a parade everyday at 3 pm (I think it is 3) with all the characters. The sidewalks are packed by 2:30! We happened to be there at the right time. Your 3 year old will love the parade, the floats stop and the characters allow the kids to come and dance in the street with them.

Don't forget to go to Sea World. It is a much easier day compared to Magic Kingdom. There aren't any lines for the shows, you go and sit in the auditorium.

Have Fun!!
