Need help Puting Butane in a lighter

I just bought a new lighter, and I need to refill it. On the bottom is a screw and a valve that screws out. Ive tried unscrewing both or one at a time and nothing works....anyone know?

The screw is for adjusting the flame height. Your butane lighter refill may include adapters that fit on the fill nozzle of the can.

If this is the first time filling the lighter, firmly press the fill nozzle to the valve. Unlike Zippo-style lighter fluid, which is a liquid, butane is a liquid under pressure and becomes a gas in open air.

DO NOT SMOKE OR ATTEMPT TO LIGHT THE LIGHTER WHILE REFILLING! Lest you wish to blow yourself up or take out the room for good measure.

Press firmly; you will feel the lighter getting cold; that's a sign the lighter is being refilled. Once the fuel reservoir is topped off you''ll hear a hissing and even see liquid butane escaping and vaporizing. Remove the can from the valve and put it away. Allow the lighter to warm up to room temperature before lighting. Adjust flame with the screwdriver to suit.

Hope this helps.

I'm trying that, but the butane is just squirting all over the place.

A good Fuente Fuente Opus X sounds good about now... That's if you can find 'em at a reasonable price!

The +/- shows you which direction to turn the screw to adjust the flame height. From what you mentioned it's possible the lighter may already be full but the flame adjustment is set too low. Set it to about halfway and try to light it.

I think maybe you're right, because when i try to put more, a lot just comes hissing out. The thing is that it still won't light. I tried bringing it out halfway with no go.
