Hopefully this is a holiday that everyone is holding in high regard.

My dad is a veteran, as were my two grandfathers, so I've always held the holiday in high regard - there are many who just kinda think of it as another day off though, which was always confusing to me.

Anyways, Happy Memorial Day to all, and keep in your thoughts all those who have given so much.

I spent my memorial day going to the Strategic Air and Space Museum, dedicated to the men and women of the Strategic Air Command - the men who controlled our nuclear weapons and kept us out of WWIII by showing the Russians we weren't afraid to strike first, and if attacked, we could respond 10x harder - men like my father, LtCol Michael D. Salmi, USAF (Ret.)

Peace is Our Profession


The museum had a great exhibit about Charles Lindburgh, too. Learned a lot.

My American flag is also flying proudly at my home


'Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away...

I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land...

I think this is somewhat fitting for this topic.

A good friend of mine who was stationed away from home for the last couple months returned home for good today. I'm so excited!
