Keepin Curly Hair in Check

The thread in the Rush forum got me thinking...

All you curly headed GCers, what do you use/do to you hair to keep it in check and under control when it's curly or straight? we all read about crap in magazines, but what really works for you?

I use:
Sebastian Potion 9 leave in conditioner (especially good for swimming or the beach b/c it protects your hair)

a wide tooth comb in the shower (not after)

Frizz ease gel (though I'm not in love with it)

and frizz ease Secret Weapon styling creme (This I cannot live without!!!!!)

and I always air dry when I curl (even though it takes 5 hours!)

I use the same product when I straighten (except I use a big round brush, a paddle brush, an 1875 heat blow dryer, and a flat iron)

although now I am looking into getting a Chi iron....any other ideas for our wonderful locks?

BED HEAD Moisture manic is great.
Any product like shine spray or serum that has silicone is good- it keeps the frizzies down (don't use if you have thin hair!).
Products like KMS Straight out are good for straightening (it smells like vanilla for a bonus!).

I use the 185 blowdryer for making my hair straight also, it takes a lot of time still, but faster than those 1600!

To keep it straight: Graham Webb's Stick Striaght Gel

To keep it curly: Clinique's Defined Curls

To keep it shiny: Rusk's Shining Spray

I use Salon Selectives Moisturizing shampoo, SS bodifying conditioner. Then SS Rise Up Mousse, then some cheap brand gel to scrunch in (think DEB). Then I blowdry upside down, and I have to straighten the front of my hair with a round brush cuz I have a nasty collic in the front and my hair doesn't fall right.

To straighten.... ugh... it's pointless to straighten my hair cuz by the end of the day it's one HUGE poofball. But I use Frizz-Ease hair serum (hate the other products by them), Big Sexy Hair Straigtening gel, Redken Water Wax, Bed Head Shine Junky, Twisted Taffy, and I think it's Redken Vinyl Shine spray. Yes I use all that to attempt to keep my hair unfrizzy but nothing works.

That Frizz-ease hair serum is worth it's weight in gold.

I generally just use that and mousse. Although I've tried the dream curls stuff from the Fizz-Ease line and I like that, thus far.

In Florida, I generally don't bother with straightening my hair.

I HATE Frizz-ease. I personally think it's crap. I never works on my hair, except make it greasy.

To make my hair straight I use Tony&Guy. The thing is I don't know if you can get it in North America. I haven't seen it here in Canada, but it might be possible to find it in the US. My mother bought it in England and I think it's fantastic!!!! Either that or Aveda products. I find them great for my hair (and they smal nice too!), but I don't buy them often because they're expensive and I'm a poor student .

Sometimes I use Citrishine, and that works alright, but Tony & Guy, it's great if you can find it.

edit to correct: whoops, my bad. Tony & Guy products are available in the US. I don't know about Canada though (why are so slow?) The product is No-Kinks Smoothing Balm...fantastic!!!

I have very corse natural curly hair--- ringlet curls.... to tame my curls I use ISO Bouncy Cream and John Frieda's Funky Chunky texturizing lotion.
I always air dry (although my hair is still damp by noon)--yes, i go to work with damp hair everyday. And I never use hairspray, gel, mousse, etc.
