Kappa Sigma Plans Return to Ohio State and William and Mary

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA-The Kappa Sigma Fraternity is preparing for a number of expansions for the 2003-2004 school year including Ohio State University, the College of William and Mary as well as a number of other campuses across North America. The dormant chapters at Ohio State and William and Mary are two of Kappa Sigma's oldest and most historic chapters. Each dormant chapter has over 1,000 alumni members.
"We are extremely excited about our return to Ohio State and William and Mary" said Kirk Chewning, Kappa Sigma's Commissioner for Recruitment and Expansion. "Students on these campuses will be extremely interested in the ability to be a founding member of the new fraternity chapter, and will be interested in Kappa Sigma's principles of scholarship, fellowship, leadership and service as well as our strict no-hazing policy.”
The Ohio State University is located in Columbus, Ohio. The College of William and Mary is located in Williamsburg, Virginia.

"Our expansion program involves both "re-colonizations" (or returning Kappa Sigma to campuses where we the Fraternity was once represented) as well as the development of interest groups into colonies, where the fraternity works with local groups of students interested in colonizing a new fraternity chapter," said Matthew Bott, Assistant Executive Director for Kappa Sigma.
Working with local interest groups on each campus, the Fraternity hopes to colonize at: Arkansas State, University of Texas/El Paso, the University of West Florida, Rochester Institute of Technology, Murray State University and the University of the Incarnate Word among many others next Fall.
Recent recolonizations have included the Fraternity's successful return to Wake Forest University (Delta-Omega Chapter), Southwest Texas State University (Theta-Lambda Chapter), Western Kentucky University (Theta-Theta) as well as the University of Florida (Delta-Delta), Louisiana Tech (Epsilon-Gamma) and Louisiana State University (Gamma). Each of these former or current colonies started out at above the average fraternity size on campus.
The Kappa Sigma Fraternity is a men's college social fraternity and currently ranks as one of the largest in North America. Kappa Sigma was founded in 1869 at the University of Virginia. The Fraternity is represented on more than 200 campuses in the U.S. and Canada and has over 70 alumni chapters. The current membership of Kappa Sigma exceeds 215,000.
