E-Mail From National To Stop Posting on GC
I just recieved an e-mail from an alumni who works a lot with our national office telling me to stop posting here. It's like the same thing that happened with Kappa. I don't want any shit getting stirred up with national, but I don't want them telling me where I can post stuff about greeks. So, what should I do?
Mind you, he's not an official from national, just an alum who's worked a long time with them.
And, he's also our chapter advisor and alumni board bresident....

if i were you i'd just find the old Kappa threads. All the good arguments are in there.
Basically he has no right to tell you what to do in your spare time. It may be possible that he needs something to do with his spare time
Hehe.

Personally, I'd tell him to show me IN WRITING a national policy or edict from headquarters establishing guidelines about what members can and cannot do, such as posting on GC. Otherwise, tell him to shove it up his a**.
OK, OK, so it's a little too drastic...
He may be confused as to think you are speaking for the national fraternity when you are really speaking only for yourself and that you're affiliated with Delta Sigma Phi. One solution to that could be that you put a 'disclaimer' stating that your views don't reflect the official positions of your fraternity. But in the menantime, don't let a pinhead (even if he is your fraternity brother) try to muzzle you.

ask him specifically what by-laws have you violated in posting on GC. I do not know your national by-laws, but i would imagine there nothing agianst posting on GC on it. I've never seen you violate the trust of your fraternity or unbecomming a brother in any matter.
Then I would direct him to the local Mr. T fan club so we can kick his ass.

I think a lot of it depends on how your portray your organization on here. I haven't gone back to see your posts or anything, but if you haven't posted anything derogatory or anything that puts your organization in a bad light, then I don't see what the problem is. But I know that if I see another Delta Zeta posting things that I wouldn't want myself associated with, I'm embarrassed. When we do things with our letters out there, we have to be respectful of what we say. Like I said, you may not fall under this category at all. It's just a thought of where the alum might be coming from. I could also see if someone was posting things regarding ritual, that would be a problem. Contact your National and see if they have any problem with it if you aren't doing anything detrimental to your GLO.

Last time I checked, this is not Iraq. You can post whatever you want, with whatever screen-name you want, on any bulletin board you want. All do respect, but tell this guy to take a flyin....

I guess it's since we're ina rebuilding stage, with many of our chapters getting into questionable amounts of trouble (think Auburn) as well as many of our chapters being very low in size compared to years before, he is worried about me saying something to give Delta Sig a bad name
This of course is questionable since I have said some innap things on here, so the merit of his claim is up for debate.

I agree, who is he to ask or tell you what to do with your time and where?
If it is a must, simply change your gc name and take your letters out of your signature, but I highly doubt that you would end up having to do that....
Yea, do as James said, lol, pretend like he didn't tell you anything

What have you been posting to have someone from Nationals ask you to stop? If you're posting controversial comments try adding a disclaimer to your signature.

while its pretty much BS that they are telling you not to post, maybe the fact that (and please don't take this the wrong way) you are constantly posting about how drunk or high you are/will be/were isn't exactly how your nationals want their organization represented in a public forum.
