Pumpkin
has anyone seen this movie named 'Pumpkin'? i just saw it last night and boy is it weird. aside from it's weirdness, the way it portrayed greek life made me sick. not only did it basically refer to AOPi (the sorority was actually alpha omega pi), it seemed to reference kappa sigma and possiblely tri sigs or tri delts.
i bring this up b/c it was beyond surprising to see this extreme portrayal. basically it showed that sororities are stereotypical in every single aspect of the typical sorority stereotype. (if that made any sense) it showed rivalry between sororities, cattyness of sisters towards each other, and showed that every sorority girl is a slut and has to only date fraternity guys.
if anyone's seen this movie, please let me know what you think.

I saw this movie about a month ago. It stars Chirstina Ricci. The story line was really weird and I couldn't keep my mouth closed most of the time. I watched it with one of my sisters. Even though the movie sucked we didn't turn it off, because it was just too damn weird and dumb (due to the stereotypes and bad acting)
my advice if you haven't seen it, which i'm sure most of you haven't, don't bother & save your money to watch something else.

This movie made me mad.. not because it showed sororities in a negative light, but because it was supposed to be satire and ended up feeling like a really bad After-School special.

never said the acting was at all good. i agree, don't waste your money renting it, but what do you think about the way greek life was portrayed. do you really think that younger girls/guys watching this will interpret it as reality? or do you think that b/c of how weird the movie itself was, it won't matter?

I didn't like the movie at all because I thought it was a very bad attempt at artsiness (is that a word?) that can only be carried off successfully in Sundance movies. Don't beat me up or order my death, but since I knew that the stereotypes were intentional and too extreme to be taken seriously, I laughed at them.

Anytime you see Christina Ricci's name on a movie, you should pretty much know it's going to be weird.

i totally agree it was overly dramatized or stereotyped or whatever, but it still pissed me off. either way, you are right. i shouldn't care b/c it's just a bad attempt to be ultra artsy (i don't think that's a word either). just wanted to get other opinions on the subject.
