Happy August 1st
Happy August everyone...Ok, I'm a dork, I know, but I'm bored at work and no one has posted here in two days.
Besides that, I have an 18 day countdown to my Rho Chi deaffiliation and I'm also on countdown til I can move into my house at school and away from my parents (whom I love but they get a little annoying when I have to live with them all summer). Anyone else?

I love being here, but the fact of the matter is my brother is annoying me! So I understand! That is family for you!!! You get used to your routine at school and the people around you there and you come home and someone someway throws it off!! It gets crazy. Besides I have been working two places all summer and even though I am taking 15 hours, working at the campus radio station and a part time job plus doing VPR til October... it will be relaxing to do work week and rush... can you imagine anyone actually saying that???

Hey girls. I agree that being home for the summer can get annoying. I find my parents very annoying, but I think it is that they forget the independence that we have gotten at college. Also, it doesn't help that there is not much going on, so I feel bored all the time. but, yes, i definately think the general consensus is that parents/families are annoying when you come home from college.

PS: Leslie, have a great time as a Rho Chi and Good Luck!

Girls, all I can say is that five years from now, remember that you wrote this. This brief time that you are in college will truly be some of your most wonderful memories--even the memories of going home for the summer.
LOL, I've turned into a total sap.

Oh okay, see I am one of those lucky people that gets along with their parents.. they are wonderful about giving me freedom. I have two older brothers, though. One graduated college in January and lives at home. He has a girlfriend that I hooked him up with three years ago and he doesn't seem to care about anyone's feelings but hers! It gets really hard because he fights with me all the time and really hurts my feelings. My oldest brother lives an hour away and we get along great.. it is just that middle child!! AAAGHH!

Talking about counting down the days...! I had surgery a little over a month ago on my ankle and my doc and my mom won't let me do or go anywhere except for church...I even had to quit my job (which kept me busy working like 50 hours a week). I've depended on my friends and sisters to visit me (which they have!) since I can't drive anywhere (it's my right ankle). I tell ya, you don't realize how long 24 hours is until you sit on a recliner watching reruns and reading your AGD Notebook- again and again and again. =) I have a week and a half before I go back for RA training...I can't wait to be back on campus, even though I'll be hopping around on crutches for 6 more weeks. =(
So LeslieAGD, you've got company; you aren't the only one bored or counting down the days...I guarantee ya that there are many of us out there!

Heh heh, happy August everyone!
Today I realized something. You know you're not looking forward to your birthday when you don't realize that your birthday's in 3 days.
Of course, this is the 2nd time in a row that the BF's missed my bday so it doesn't matter that he misses my 22nd. *sigh*

Leslie,
How many Rho Chi's are there? does your school pick a certain # of Rho Chi's per sorority or pick out of applicants (regardless of sorority)?

I here what you are all saying about the fam and being bored - except I am the exception in this case. My university is in my home town - so I live at home all year round. So I am looking forward to school being back in session. I can't wait to see my sisters and get cracking for formal rush. The one nice thing about living at home is most everything is free, and I can save my money for fun stuff like clothes Did I mention I live in rurual Michigan? Yeah, so the nearest "actual" mall is two and half hours away. I just can't wait to get back to class!
Kristen
PS- For rush we are having a halloween night, can anyone think of some good costume ideas??

I think there are 23 Rho Chis this year. There are usually only 20. They try to pick a few girls from each chapter out of all the applicants. I think AGD has the most girls out, with 3 Rho Chis and two girls on panhel.

I have to agree with greeklaw's post before...enjoy college. It feels so weird to not have that anymore. I get a little nostalgic once and a while.
OTW, sorry about the birthday. I know how you feel. My bofriend is in the Navy and has only made on birthday in three years and never been around for our anniversay. Cheer up though...your sisters are here!
