Cool Fun Hobbies...

So I have a new addiction that I have to share. Ok, maybe it's an obsession. It's knitting. I know, you think of knitting and your grandma (and boy was I excited to learn my grandma has all of her needles still), but it is so much fun and so relaxing! I just love yarn shopping (there is some amazing stuff out there) and I am having so much fun making scarfs, blankets and hats. I can't wait to make sweaters, socks and all sorts of fun stuff!

Does anyone else have any really fun hobbies to help them unwind, relax and enjoy their evenings? What are they and why do you enjoy them?

I don't know if it would count as a hobby or not but I am a voracious reader. When I have extra time that is what I do.I have been known to waste a whole afternoon reading. My friends make fun of me for it because they often feel like I would rather read than hang out with them.Sometimes they are right.

I would love to learn how to sew.My sister sews beautifully and even designs some of her own clothes.Oddly enough,it is something I don't have the patience to learn.

Well, when I have time, I either read or crosstitch. It's something my mom taught me how to do and I love it. I'm sure there are others.

My little sister loves to knit too. I tease her all the time. Sadly enough, I think her and my big sister are going to be the only two aerospace engineers that rival Martha Stewart.

My big hobby is scrapbooking, but I don't have as much time to do that as I used to. I do it in one big effort and spend like a week on it, and about 5 hours a day because that's just how I have to work. I'm silly, I know.

Aphigal's pattern is REALLY cool for you cross-stitchers out there. I used to love to cross-stitch as a kid, but I feel out of love at some point. So sad.

My other hobby is definitely reading. I LOVE it! The only problem I have is that since my eye surgery my eyes are too tired at night for me to really read anything. Knitting is great because it is more rote and doesn't require the focus that reading does.

I have a few....

I like APhiGal Scrapbooking is my number one obsession. When you have a toddler a camera is automatically glued to your eye. I had to go recently and buy a really expensive camera to feed my obssession! or is it buying the items? I use to be a Creative Memories consultant so i would get a discount of the amt of supplies i would buy.

I love to cross stitch and i really love to sew. I do want to learn to knit. That is something i always wanted to learn. is it hard? how similar is it to crocheting?

I would love to get that lily of the valley pattern. Does anyone have the pattern to the crest?

Another hobby of mine is and if you grew up in Southern California you will understand ,and believe me it isn't surfing.... it is i am a true disney die hard fan! I collect, shop and buy disney! my hobby is to go to the park and fine all the hidden mysterious facts that true die hard fanatics talk about. I have friends on the inside who give me facts , but to me a day at disneyland is a mental day off for me.

One hobby i would to take up is quilting..... i find it sooo fasnicating when i go to craft shows and see the detail work they put into it.

lastly, reading..... i am reading enough law books right now to stress my eyes out so i save my fun reading for breaks and summer. i am a closet Danielle Steel and John Gresham fan! every book the both ever wrote.

Knitting is fairly simple. The fun is in the yarns you buy and the patterns. On Sunday night I taught myself how to cable. I was SOOO excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am working on the coolest mohair blanket right now and then am going to start a wool blend blanket for my grandma. She used to knit too and I know she will love it.

I can't wait until I go skiing next week. I am hoping it will be cold enough up in Mammoth for me to wear my newest wool scarf and hat!

how fun!

I have not been to mammouth in so long. I usually just head up to Wrightwood or Big Bear but this yr i haven't been anywhere.

I love mohair yarn. I was at Wal Mart the other day and saw some really cool yarn to do a baby blanket in.
