SDSU Greek Week Talent show 2003

Ok, I'm bored, so I'll tell you about it.

The following pairings did the following skits:

DG
Alpha Epsilon (The Old SAEPi)
Phi Kap
AEPi
"Wizard of Oz"

ADPi
Alpha Phi Gamma
SAE
"Monsters in my closet"

AChiO
SigEp
Gamma Phi Epsilon
DU
"Cinderella"

Sigma Kappa
Lambda Sigma Gamma
Sigma Nu
Alpha Psi Rho
"Newsies"

Pi Phi
Sigma Phi Omega
Gamma Zeta Alpha
"1980s"

Theta
Sigma Alpha Zeta
Sigma Pi
Sammy
"Chicago"

Alpha Phi
Sigma Chi
Theta Chi
"Going to Work"

DELTA SIGMA PHI
GAMMA PHI BETA
PHI KAPPA PSI
DELTA SIGMA PSI
"Armed Forces"

KD
KA
Upsilon Kappa Delta
Beta Omega Phi
"Super Hero"

I'm not gonna get into every show, so I'll just describe ours.

Me and a bro played a marine recruiter and a prospect. Before the show we had a disclaimer saying we hope no one would get offended by our skit because of what was going on in Iraq. Then we asked everyone to do the pledge of allegiance, which I led. We led a dialouge where my bro would ask me about joining the military, and each scene segued into a song about that branch of the mailitary. In between our dialouge our pairing would dance to that song.

First, Gamma Phi tap danced to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Then Phi Psi and my house danced to In The Navy. Then we all danced to Air Force Ones. Then Phi Psi did a number to the theme from Top Gun/Danger Zone After that the girls danced to American Woman. Then everyone danced to Bombs Over Baghdad (That got a standing O). We finished with Party People.

It was great having Gamma Phi sitting in the very front. Their cheers drowned out everyone elses (but we heard them). Everyone chanted USA at one point which I thought was awesome.

So, I dont remember who got the other awards, but we won Spirit which was great, and we got a bunch of seconds and third in originality and creativity.

Oh, KD, KA, UKD and Beta won overall. They deserved it though, they did a Batman skit and it was great.

It was great night (I can't hear though), and I hope it stays that way tommorow night when we have our 6 hour dance marathon.

This is the first greek week Delta Sig has done since rechartering in 1998, so it was great to do this well.

All Money Raised From greek Week (Last year we raised 20,000 for the Boys and Girls Club) will go to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation. I think we already passed last year.

Yes we did! lol, this is my first greek week, so it was just an awesome night... of course w/ the added bonus of winning the talent show! unfortunately I have to miss the rest of greek week for a retreat I have this weekend, but I wish everybody the best of luck- and have fun! :-)

Thanks Tom!

But, truthfully, the Sigs in attendance hardly cheered for anything. Once again it was due to apathy, the notion that having spirit for your house is "gay", and the "realization" that cheering wouldn't be heard because there were only 10 guys there and they'd be drowned out.

But oh well. the Sigs involved did this for all the greeks, not just our house, so it doesn't bother me that much.

Some of my sisters and I went down to SDSU over our Spring Break to visit the ADPi's there and we got to see the SAE/ADPi/Alpha Phi Gamma dance practice and it was really cute. I hope that they performed well and had a great time. ADPi and Sigma Pi won Greek Week overall here at Arizona State, ADPi for the second year in a row. You guys are lucky to have such a strong Greek community and a beautiful campus!

Why aren't they SAEPi anymore? They were only colonized like a year ago.

BTW does anyone know just how many chapters SAEPi has now? I did a search on google an found a chapter at ASU but only the SDSU chapter is mentioned at www.sigmaaepi.com

SAEPi here decided to go national on their own, so they had to change their name, and they couldn't be SAE or AEPI so they picked the happy medium

My impression from the reunion show was that some of the alums were in the process of setting up a national board so they could begin the expansion process at other schools. As was discussed before, about 15 schools expressed interest in starting SAEPi chapters and they probably figure they'd better have some kind of national board in place before that happened. So I'd guess that they still only have a couple chapters at this point in time.

And yeah, their website is almost never updated . . . it drives me crazy.
