I had a wonderful time at GTau's IRD. I want to thank the collegians. It's a shame that more alumnae don't participate (no matter the event). The alumnae that were there talked about it and I think that the majority of reasons are "I won't know anybody" and "Sorry, I have to do so-and-so with my family". Evite is wonderful so that you can see who all is invited but lots of people won't even acknowledge that they got/read the invite. I think they'd have a great time!
Even with Evite and mailed invitations, the key will always be one sister personally contacting those she knows. Next year being the 100th anniversary. I already know that collegians will be making an effort to have something special..we as alumnae should be there to support them and to show that there is AGD life after graduation. I know that IRD is usually the alumnae's responsibility to plan, etc,. but I am proud of them for trying!
Michelle Flake Morgan, GTau alumna and AGD Foundation trustee, gave a wonderful talk about how the Foundation is working hard to provide terrific programs for sisters now and in the future. She and her hubby are also endowing an annual GTau scholarship!! She talked about how important, no matter the amount of Foundation donations and the annual alumnae dues are and challenged attendees to get others involved. Go Alpha Gams!
GTaus have had a wonderful year! Last week was Greek Week. GTau was awarded the Community Service Award for Campus Student Orgs., (can't remember the exact title), won Tug-of-War for 5 years in a row and the Mr. "Miss Greek" Pageant, Academic Bowl, Crest Chalk Drawing and 2-3 place in other events.
At the end of IRD, we got to talking about Chicago 2004! Looking forward to it!
