Arguments
I need a good idea for my argument speech for my speech communication class. I can argue for or against anything as long as I can find four sources (books, or journals). My teacher also said not to argue that seat belts are good because she has sat through that speech so many times that she never wants to hear it again. I want something fun to argue about-- I don't want to argue about abortion, death penalty, if God exists or the speeches everyone does.
Any help is appreciated because my creative juices aren't flowing.

I did my persuasive speech on recycling. It was actually really easy because it was built on three flip cards with reduce, reuse, recycle on them. It worked out really well and I got the highest grade in the class on that speech because everyone else did such heavy topics and I made mine upbeat.
Hope this helps!

My two personal favorites-the argument against death penalty and drugging children.
There is a LOT of evidence that the death penalty does not deter crime.

which is better, kraft of velveeta?
If Count Chocula and Frankenberry got in a fight, who would win?
why you should/shouldn't join the Greek system
why we should/shouldn't go to war
Tony vs. Angela: who's REALLY the boss?

fall quarter i did my speech on how and why Bush is leading us to war....no one believed me then but my instructor, but I guess i was right.
ummm, how about:
why you should take the bus instead of driving while commuting
why freshman should live in the dorms
why you should vote
sorry i can't help you more, it's hard to think of really good topics.

I'd take on something substantial, but not too weighty. Everyone's going to be talking about things like abortion - but for something "fluffier" like Coke vs. Pepsi, you would be hard pressed to find sources. (For the record... Coke )
How about :
Why licensed drivers should be required to retake their written and/or road tests every few years
Why smoking should or should not be banned in restaurants and bars (Big topic in NYC right now)
Why the drinking age should be lowered to 18
Good luck

Why old people should lose their driver's license...they're just as dangerous as teenage drivers.

i came up with an idea from my self-help books, but I'm not going to say what it is because I overly worry what people think and i don't want you all to laugh or think it is stupid. If I get a good grade on it I'll let you know.
Thanks for the ideas bc I'll need topics for future speeches for this class.

CLEARLY it is all about Kraft! lol
I would do something about stem cell research...it is VERY interesting, like how the government is thinking of tagging our genes to track us. This can also be used as a form of eugenics (that's how I see it anyway). Very compelling arguments for and against, and also informative because most people aren't aware that this kind of research is going on. I would give you links to government web sites and stuff but I am too lazy, lol.

How about doing something regarding mandatory child seat laws in the United States.
**If you need anything let me know before I quit my job, lol.

I don't understand the "tagging genes" thing. What is it?
