Actress Lynne Thigpen Dies at 54

Posted March 13, 2003 -- Actress Lynne Thigpen, who has starred in close to 50 movies including "Lean on Me" and "The Insider," died Thursday in her Los Angeles home. Thigpen, who was said to have been in good health, was 54. The cause of death was not immediately known.
Thigpen, who also had a huge television career with roles on PBS's "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?," NBC's "Law and Order" and currently on the CBS drama, "The District," also won a Tony Award in 1997 for the play, "An American Daughter."
Taping for the "The District" was put on hold with no definite plans of when shooting will resume. Details about family and funeral schedules are not yet available.
I was so shocked to read this, "The District" is one of my favorite shows to watch.
