Supporting celebs that are criminals??

The song thread got me thinking.....
I love R Kelly's new song "Ignition". It totally gets me going, ready to go out and have fun, whatever. Here's the thing- he has sex with girls who are 15. And he knows it. And he tapes it. And he has done it way more than once. And he's had a few charges against him regarding rape.
I think its horrible to worship celebrities, especially when they are sex offenders. And it's not like people all over America haven't seen this tape.
Anyone else feel guilty listening to his music?? Or get squeamish when buying a movie with someone in it who has committed a pretty heinous crime?? Seems kind of horrible of us to be like, "sucks what he did to you, but we'll still give him $$ to sing." Now I'm convinced I'm going to hell......

Now, as far as I know, R Kelly hasn't been FOUND guilty of anything at this point. He has been CHARGED but that is all...unless I missed something (which I may have).

I have no problem listening to his music, and that won't change if he is eventually found guilty of the charges he is currently facing. He is very talented and I love most of the songs he's done. Granted, I haven't gone out to buy his CD, but in the age of Kazaa, I don't buy music any more, period (nor do I buy movies, and I rarely even go to the theater).

On a more general note, to me, artists are NOT role models. I can separate someone's talent from someone's person. I'm sure there are PLENTY of actors and musicians out there I would think absolutely SUCK as people if I knew more about them, but frankly I don't really care enough to investigate.

I'm pretty sure he hasn't been found guilty yet (or maybe he was once, out of like 16 charges) but it's not really a question.
He taped himself having sex with a 15 year old girl. The tape was anonymously sent into the Chicago Trib or Sun-Times....it's on the internet, but anyway he's like, looking into the camera and everything. They're not arguing that it's not him on the tape. He has said it's him, what he's arguing is that the girl was 17 when it happened (legal in IL). Either way I just feel bad, for some weird reason. I don't think celebs should be role models, but its kind of like a slap in the face to his 'victims' (if he has any) that we're continuing to support him. Girls that he willingly had sex with, I wouldn't consider victims, but like, for the girls he supposedly, maybe, kinda sexually harassed..... Just something to think about-

I agree with you for the most part, although I do kindy feel a little guilty listening to "Ignition" remix...(I be jammin').

Anyway...PM me...I would like to know how you download your videos from Kazaa. They full-length movies NEVER work for me, only music videos! Thanks!!
