National's Affiliation

If you are in a sorority, which group does your nationals say your fraternity chapter affiliation is? Same for the fraternities, your sorority affiliation?

I'm guessing you're asking about brother/sister organizations?

While there is no official decree here I was "informed" by our Alpha Xi Deltas very early on that we are their Brother fraternity. We now actually have a very nice wall-hanging thing in our house that proclaims that (was a very nice gift when we got our charter). Sigma Nu actually had a hand in getting them started and helping them go national.

I don't believe any of the NPC organizations have official brother organizations, although some have special bonds with fraternities: Delta Gamma and Phi Delta Theta, for example.

The only official brother/sister relationship in national fraternities and sororities that I know of is that of Zeta Phi Beta and Phi Beta Sigma.

AOII has no national brother fraternity, but on our campus at least there are pair-ups with fraternities and sororities which generally hang out together a lot. Like SigEp and APhi, AOII and Pi Lamb, Gamma Phi and Beta, and Sigma Nu and AZD are ours on campus. Does anyone else have campuses like that?

I thought NPC's weren't allowed to have bro orgs. (We aren't allowed to here anyhow.) I thought it is something about remaining about/for women and when you have a bro org that can change. That is what I was told I could be wrong...

I've heard something to that effect about why we also can no longer officially have lil sis orgs anymore. We used to have sisters of the Nile as late as the early 80s, some of our old SDSU yearbooks have lil sis groups for each fraternity, but apparently not anymore.

As sugar & spice said, the only OFFICIAL brother/sister relationship is that of Phi Beta Sigma & Zeta Phi Beta. Any other relationship, no matter what anyone tells you, no matter how much you hang out with them, no matter if they assisted in another group's creation, IS NOT OFFICIAL. (This does not apply to locals, of course.)

Alpha Gam has no brother organization. But we seem to have close bonds with TKE and LXA.
