Happy Girls' Day!

I just wanted to wish all the girls of GreekChat a Happy Girls' Day! And it's NPC Badge day too!!!

For those who don't know...March 3rd is known to the Japanese as Hinamatsuri, or the Doll's Festival. This day is special because it's a day to pray for a young girl's health and happiness. In Japanese tradition, the girl gets dolls from her grandparents. The typical Hinamatsuri setting looks like this:

Mine looks something similar to that...not as fancy though.

Too bad this isn't considered a "holiday" in the US! I've got Mr. OTW taking me out to dinner just for the occasion!

Thanks for sharing, OTW. I've never heard of this before...and I should have known since I lived in Japan for three years!

Do you speak Japanese? I love the language.

I have passed greetings of the day on to our 2 Japanese daughters--Blazercheer and the 15-year-old (who looks feminine and doll-like but eats like a Mack truck and blurts out incredibly unJapanese like bombs like, "Look at that guy's BUTT! OMG, that woman only has about 3 TEETH!"

I took a semester of Japanese here at UH but I'm limited to just a few key phrases...and a bunch of expletives. Haha. Knowing how to speak it is definitely a plus here...any job in Waikiki will practically hire you on the spot.

Mom knew that I was too big for dolls...so this morning she gave me the next best thing--CASH! Yay mom.
