Badges with initiation

What up boys,
After reading HotDamnIAmAPhiMu's thread about badges, it got me to thinking; I know that there had been a bit of talk at the last Conclave about upping the initiation fee a bit to include badges for all new members, but I didn't hear anything else about it lately. Has anyone heard anything about this, any updates?

I haven't heard anything about this. However, my chapter purchased the plain badges for new initiates (however, they ordered a week before initiation and the badges are on backorder...shucks).

I thought all throughout pledgeship that badges were included and it is my belief that they should be...$179 is not that much different than $150, anyway. I'm sure there will be talk of this in Tampa in a couple months at Grand Conclave.

Plus, there would have to be a discount for a bulk order, with all of the hundreds of initiates every year. Hopefully they'll be included in the future, I have a feeling they will.

What's the latest on this? I certainly think it is a good idea to gift each initate with a badge.

I haven't heard anything about it - I believe there is still a suggestion on the table to up the initation fee to include the price of badges, but I don't think any changes will occur until after Conclave.

I'd expect to hear something after that, as it will probably be brought up/voted on at that time.

I am not sure it needs to be a conclave issue. Any chapter could do it as a matter of policy in one meeting.

Definitely - I think it would be easier that way.

But something tells me that it's going to be discussed; it was brought up in some committee meetings at last Conclave, and that makes me think they'll try to make it policy.

I agree though - it could just as easily be done on a chapter-by-chapter basis.
