Talking I LOVE PHI SIGMA SIGMA! (a pep talk of sorts!)

I just had to say how much I love my sorority! I definately am at work and while being very sick for the first hour or so... I CRIED when I was thinking about what Im going to say at my candlepass to all of my sisters. Its really hard to be alum as an undergrad, granted I RECOMEND it to any sister who is thinking about disaffliating due to financial/family/health reasons, you can reamain a Phi Sig, and still be an active alum in the chapter. Last semester was my "semester off" I didnt do much within the chapter, I had some bitterness toward some members and was happy to be alum. I'll admit that I didnt want much to do with some of my chapter. But this sem, I am a lot happier, and have high hopes for my chapter and our new exec, headed by my little! She makes sure that we use what we have in the way of local alum (myself, her best friend and some others who wish to stay active). I hope to some how come up with the funds to go to LTS this summer and find out ways I can help Gamma Gamma.

I really really love being a Phi Sig, and remember, sometimes you may get down because of problems in the chapter, certain sisters, national issues, etc. But at those times sit down and remember WHY you joined. There was a good reason that you put in all this time and effort and money. You knew something had to be worth it. If we look at what we have, and can show others how great it is to be Phi Sig, we can do great things locally and nationally - like expand. We need to show these schools that we are STRONG! And when you're alum, dont just disappear. Alum are valuable resources, and look into being active nationally by holding positions. Once you do this, and we keep strong leadership, theres no way that people can stop us!

Okay, now thats enough of a pep talk... if you ever need another one, let me know!

MUCH LITP and MINE!
Alison

Hey Ali,

Great pep talk!!

my chapter is going through some drama right now and I feel great that I am able to help them. As an alum living far away i stilll keep in contact with the chapter , and am ont he advisory board.....When all this stuff happened it was nice to know that actives and advisors could talk to me since i'm not all caught up in it.

I just keep tellin them they're making a mountain out of a molehil....well for the most part....

ANYWAY,

I Love Phi Sigma Sigma

Wow, so you basically just described me! I'm going through the same thing...

I totally agree with you about loving Phi Sig!!! Even though it's brought drama (with a bunch of women, how can it not?!) but it's well worth it in the end!

Thanks for posting this thread!

I love Phi Sigma Sigma too! Your pep talk made me clear any doubts that I have about the upcoming semester. (we start Feb. 13th) Things can get tough if you let it, and I know anything can be worked out! oh and I love my greekchat sisters mucho too!!! I'm so glad I can come on here and see all your posts and see your great wisdom at work. Keep it up. Diokete Hupsala!

=== sigh === Thanks Allison I really needed to hear that... My Phi Sig spirit has been waaaaayy. down lately.. our recruitment is going HORRIBLY to say the least... and I hate to say it... but we're turning into the sorority that no one wants to be in.. (there was another.. but after this rush... I belive the tables have turned..) and it's really been bumming me out... I truly love being a phi sig... but it's a constant struggle with membership and it's just really hard to keep that spirit up when some of the girls don't have it. Makes me want to stick around another year just to be MRC and see if I can try and get things changed in my chapter !

Not to crash your forum, but --

I did the Disney College program last semester, and even though I had some disappointing experiences with other Alpha Gams, every single Phi Sig I met down there was awesome. My roommate was from UMBC, and she was the best roommate I've ever had.

There's no Phi Sig on my campus now, but the next time we vote for expansion (Which could be soon -- we just added AOPi last year and they're already at 100 girls), you can bet I'll be pulling for Phi Sigma Sigma after getting to know a bunch of your sisters.

OUKate: who was your roommate from UMBC? I am one of the advisors of the chapter, and I would love to spread your praise onto them. Also, I am very excited to have other Greeks supporting Phi Sigma Sigma. It means so much to us! Have a great weekend and thanks again!
