Red face should i even try to be in the greek system

hey,

I'm a transfer student in an university in NC. And I've always wanted to be greek, I feel that it is a big part of college and I have always regretted not being part of it.

But i'm nervous. I am not a freshman, i'm a junior but I still want the opportunity to experience this once in a life time experience.

Am I wasting my time? how does it all work. will they say, oh, your too old, get out of here.

I really want to try but have "heard" that rushing is very superfical and judgemental.

I just want the opportunity to meet a lot of nice girls and to have a good time.

any thoughts?

thanks
mandy

I totally think that you should do it. Sororities and Fraternities are made to welcome collegians no matter what rank in school they are. The amount that you get from these organizations depends on the amount that you put into it, not the amount of time you spent there.
We are always getting women from different ranks in school but everyone is treated the same way....it is the person that you are that should matter more than you age.
Delta Gamma's mission statement is....Delta Gamma offers to women of all ages a rich heritage based on principles of personal integrity, personal responsibility and intellectual honesty. Our primary purpose is to foster high ideals of friendship, promote educational and cultural interests, create a true sense of social responsibility and develop the finest qualities of character.
So if that gives you a glimpse of what we stand for and encourages you to continue to think about recruitment. Go for it! I'm sure other chapters have the same type of purpose and ideals!

Good Luck!
Andrea

I'm just curious... what school did you transfer to? I'd say go for it, too. We have a really really competitive greek system, but we still had three juniors go through when I did, and all three received bids, and as far as I know are still active in their sororities.

Talking I transferred as a Junior!!

and got a bid for DG last semester. and I love it.

I was so nervous about being older too, so I understand, but don't worry about it.

If you want to talk, please msg me or email me cherribear26@hotmail.com and I'd be more than willing to share some of my experiences etc.

Cher
