Thumbs up Rush at Purdue University

Today marks day 3 of rush and everything is going great! This is my first time being on "the other side" of rush and I am loving it. The first day I was really nervous that I wouldn't have anything to talk about or I'd butcher a name when I brought people in. But so far everything has been great! I have met some really wonderful girls! In fact, there's one in particular that just HAS to join my house. She is my rush crush!! I just adore her. I hope I see her back today or else I will cry. That seems so crazy to me to meet someone for 10 minutes and completely fall in love with their personality, but it can happen!

Anyways, just thought I would make a post about that. We have 10 parties today from noon until 10 p.m. tonight. (16 houses are participating in formal rush.) I'll try and keep updating.

And to all those who are going through recruitment, best of luck!

My father-in-law went to Purdue but wasn't a member of a fraternity. Please keep us posted on the results.

I did not attend Purdue so I cannot give you any specifics on chapters there. However, from PurdueGirlie's post, today is a 10 party day. While DG and APhi are wonderful groups, I would caution you to not limit yourself two 2 houses with this many days left to go during rucruitment. Of course if they are your favorites keep them at the top of your list, but don't dicount others so soon. As you may have read from other PNM rush stories on here, sometimes things do not always work out with the first house we think is perfect for us. Just a little advice from an old timer...

Good luck with the rest of recruitment, keep us posted, and I hope things work out for the best!

OH, and to help with your original post, and I would check out the National websites for DG and APhi. Sorry, not technologically advanced enough to post the link...

I agree..

>>>I would caution you to not limit yourself two 2 houses with this many days left to go <<<

XOKathy is right...
Sounds like you have a lot of miles to cover before bid day. A lot happens during recruitment that can change your mind even when you were sure you knew what you wanted. Just keep an open mind and look at every group. You may still end up with one of your favorites, but you may get another favorite along the way.
Please keep us updated and good luck!

Thanks for posting those stats, A&A I love learning things like that about other chapters!

So what events are left for recruitment before bid day? What are the cuts/regrets looking like? Anyone got the scoop?

Don't narrow things down too quickly. All of the houses have great things to offer and looking at this list, I'm very impressed with the options you have! I do not envy any girl having to pick between any of the amazing PanHel groups represented! BUT if you do want more information about wearing the Golden Anchor, check out Delta Gamma's National Web Page . There is so much information on there...check out some of the other sororities pages too, before making any big decisions! The web is a great tool!

A Phi's website is www.AlphaPhi.org. Even though I'm a bit biased, I would say go where the girls make you feel the most comfortable. Don't let your friends or family pressure you into something that you won't be happy with. Good Luck and have fun!

Thumbs up Update

Well yesterday went really well for my chapter!! I am very, very excited. First of all, 13 of the 17 girls I talked to on Day 1 and Day 2 returned to our house! I have met some really wonderful ladies that I'd love to have as my sisters.

This is what the recruitment schedule looked like this week:

Day 1: First 8 houses (in the acres)

Day 2: Second 8 houses (on campus)

^These were interchangeable depending on which rush group you were in. Some went to the acres the first day and some went to main campus.

Day 3: Casuals - 10 houses (We room rushed and showed our awesome sisterhood video that one of our seniors made for us!)

Day 4: Cokes - 6 houses (Purdue calls this day Cokes because
the PNMs are served Coke during the food parties... not sure if that was obvious. This is also skit day!)

Day 5: Suits/Pref - 3 houses (Preference ceremony)

And yes, my rush crush did come back! I listened for her name ALL day and wouldn't you know she was in the very last party?! The suspense was killing me!

I have met so many other wonderful girls though. I was rushing one PNM and we were talking about pets. She told me that she had a cockapoo and I said that my best friend has one that is 18 years old, but that I was sad because it was very sick. She said, "Oh it's ok, you can just come home with me some time and meet my dog." Then when she was leaving she told me that she couldn't wait to see me tomorrow! Good sign, huh?

I'll update again and let you know how the skit goes. I am really pumped for it. We've practiced so much, it looks really good
