Canadians - Where to buy Greek Gear?
Calling all Canucks! Where do you buy your Greek gear, locally or online? If it's online, please include the web address.
Thanks!

I'm not canadian however some of my greek gear comes from online. There are a million sites online I'll list the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
http://www.uniqueonline.com/-Unique Impressions...........they are out of Delaware. I haven't ordered from them but I like what I see in their catalog just a little limited on funds at the moment
http://www.greekgear.com............Have ordered from them. I was satisfied.
ebay............ordered many times from them they sometimes have some great deals....
http://www.ubgreek.com/- they only have stuff for Phi Sigma Pi, Delta Phi Epsilon, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Phi Chi Theta, and Kappa Epsilon.............so if you are in one of those organizations you could shop there
Also I'm not sure what organization you are in or pursuing ai into (I think I read your update a while back) but you could check the national site......they most likely have a store of their own or they will give you links to places online where you can buy stuff with your letters on it. Hope that helps some!

Our chapter placed an order at a Greek Gear store at the University of Buffalo, then a few girls went down to pick up the order.
Mostly, we order from our national's website, but the duty and shipping is always so expensive. There used to be a Greek gear store that travelled, you'd call them up and they'd come do a presentation at chapter, but I don't know if they still exist.
I'd love to hear if anyone has any spots too!

My chapter just tends to just order from local custom apparel stores. It's cheaper then ordering from the States, but it would be nice there was a Canadian Greeks store we could order from, but no one knows if one exists...
Hmm... there's a business opportunity for someone...

Funny you should mention that, kappaloo! Last year I did some preliminary research into opening up a Greek Gear store for Canadians. Spent hours on canadiangreeks.com tracking down a comprehensive list of fraternities and sororities, international and local. Then I went back to school for a year and the idea was pushed to the back of my brain.
Now, I'm done school , unemployed (a temporary setback, I hope )and thinking about the store again! Even though with all this schooling, I'd like to get into my chosed field first, you never know what may happen...

Sistermadly,
I would suggest that you either buy stuff through your sorority directly (once you are initiated, you should be able to purchase items advertised in Alpha Phi's magazine or maybe website).
Or, since I know what city you are in, you should do a roadtrip to Seattle. This place has okay selection, but you can get some cute pens, glassware, notepads, keychains, etc. Alas, they have weeded out making custom design clothes with letters on them.

Hope that this helps!

Thanks for the replies, everyone! Who knows: Maybe I'll make a roadtrip to Seattle very soon.
And to those thinking of opening a greek store for Canadians -- what are you waiting for?

I know that in the late 1980's, there was a Greek store in Toronto. I think it was run by a Deke (I had the catalog - I think it was a mail order deal). I am pretty sure that it has gone bust now....if anyone wants the address, you will have to wait until I am next in Vancouver and can dig that information out.
Sistermadly, here is also another tip. If you are a "do-it-yourselfer", go downtown to a sewing store called DRESSEW. It's on Hastings, in a borderline creepy area, but in the daytime, it's okay.
If you go downstairs and head to the left wall, you will see all these different sew-on applique decorations and what not.
I have definitely seen the odd Greek Letter there...I bought a pink Delta letter with sequins on it and a yellow Gamma letter with sequins on it. I am still debating whether to make a totebag or what with them (they were about $2 each...so cheap). If you really look, I *KNOW* that I saw some Phi letters, there (maybe in silver and also blue) and I am sure that you can find Alpha letters too. If you are in luck, you might be able to find an Alpha and a Phi in the SAME COLOR!
Just a thought.

For stationery and gifts i usually buy online at www.greekgiftsetc.com or www.greekgearexpress.com
for clothing i go to local screenprinters or embroidery places...they usually can come up with Greek letters and the prices are usually not bad, depending what you want and if its a group order...
I too have thought about opening a Canadian Greek store and have started doing some research, but i'm nowhere near financially stable enough to even attempt to start yet...
