Social Ideas

Our chapter of ADPi had a social event called G.I. ADPi this fall. Everyone really enjoyed this event especially the guys because they got to wear camo attire for the evening. We also got some decorations from an army surplus store. Hope this helps!

For sisterhood social events we have had "make your own ice cream sundaes" and a barbecue/volleyball night. Instead of putting one sorority house against the other though, we put even year pledge classes against odd yeared pledge classes. This way the houses had to work together to win a game. It was fun.

As far as guy/girl social events, there is areally good thread for this in the social forum called something like "social events the guys would like" Hope this helps!

A couple of the social functions that we did were really fun. We had a party called "Anything for a Buck". At this party, we printed fake money and handed it out. It was up the people at the party to make some cash. Whoever had the most money at the end of the night won a prize. Valentine's day parties are also a really good idea. People are usually looking for something inexpensive to do. When the weather clears up, have a cookout. They are alot of fun and the food can be bought at a good price in bulk. Try serving freshfruit, salad, burgers, hotdogs, and chips. It gives everyone a good chance to get together. Hope this helps ya. Goodluck.

Have a 1940s party and serve forties (not saying that's what they drank in those days but you got to have something that fits with the theme)

50's party and serve what your Grandpa would have drank (ie. Falstaff or the like)

Another option is to set up a "block" for basketball games. Have a pregame party/barbegue and then as a big group go to the game together - works well if your student section is general admission. You could either have a block with the same house the whole season (which is what we do at Nebraska for football season) or just change it up every week with a different house.
