133 Years of Excellence
As I am sure all are aware, December 10 is Founders Day. Last night was the banquet for the NE Kansas Alumni Association, which covers the Beta-Tau (Baker), Gamma-Chi (Kansas State), Gamma-Nu (Washburn), and Gamma-Omnicron (Kansas) chapters.
As a pledge who is hopefully nearing initiation next month (the final vote has been cast, but I won't find out the results until after grades come in), it was a lot of fun to attend the banquet where about 60 alumni (including some Gamma-Rho Arizona and Alpha-Psi Nebraska alumn), brothers, and pledges gathered to recognize founders day, hand out 50, 60, and 70 year pins (wow), and many scholarship award. The event reminded me of the Docet quote "For a fleeting moment in time, all her brothers walked its streets..."
It must be something strong that draws these alumni back each year to recognize this day, and I just hope I get to experience this and trade my Caduceus in for the Star and Crescent. Hopefully I will soon be able to call you brothers, and find out what this fraternity is really about.
