I was just reading over the whole set of postings on the real "fake" greeks and it led me to wonder. What is the view of the greek system on your campus?
Here the greeks are viewed in a really bad light due to a few bad incidents by one frat which is now completly and utterly in big trouble.
I think my house especially is bothered by the view of greek life on our campus because we feel that our house is very involved with the community, we are nice people and we try to treat everyone with repsect. Im not saying that the greek system is perfect but i think here that the greek witch hunt has gone way too far.
Our school newspaper
apparently two years ago sent one of their reporters to go through rush just so that she could do a interest piece on how superficial the greek system is.
This i know is true and not rumor: We have undercover reporters all the time hounding down newer members of sororities and frats (before they are more aware to be carefull) to ask them questions like, how would you get into your house? and what dont you like about your house? in an attempt to find some negative lead they can publish in the paper, granted they have never found much on the first question

but from now on it has gotten so ridiculous that we have to direct ALL questions to the IFC director.
Granted there was one frat that did some stuff that they shouldnt have last year, however, they got taken care of and are restructuring and were shut down. It angered me that the front page of our paper for the next two weeks was in big letters, GREEKS VERSUS [insert offended group here]. It was definitly not the frats name versus that group, they made it sound like the entire greek system was against this set of people. When in fact in defense of the frat that got in trouble it was only a few members of that frat and they are no longer members of that fraternity. Im really sorry im being so general here but it was a big issue on my campus and i dont want to represent that frat in a negative light. I think our greek system has done a lot of great things and those should be focused on instead of what a few former frat members did.
