Miss America 2026
This year's contest finally returns to a "first weekend in September" crowning of Miss America 2026!
I wanted to start this new thread rather than simply express my excitement within a separate, generic GC thread.
Any GC member wishing to post additional information concerning greek affiliations or close relations of this year's contestants may feel free to use this thread.

Wow - THREE Alpha Chi Omegas!
When I was a child, there was a formal dance for the parents on the same weekend of Miss America. All the kids would get together and watch it religiously. Well, the boys lasted about an hour, then had to do some "boy stuff".
I'm all in for Miss South Carolina this year!

Miss Texas, Sadie Schiermeyer, is the daughter of a former Miss Texas. Her mom won the pageant in 1994, and they are said to be the first mother-daughter winners in Miss Texas history. According to Fran's site, Sadie is a Theta. I don't know her mom's Greek affiliation.

She’s a Gamma Phi from Oklahoma City University, which is Kristen Chenowith’s chapter (she was also a pageant girl, placed 3rd runner-up in Miss Oklahoma her year).

Online-listed Preliminary Winners:
Talent: New York--Arkansas--Utah
Fitness: Florida--Tennesee--Colorado
Evening Wear: Illinois--Maryland--District of Colombia
The 7 Quality of Life Award Finalists (for 3 awards announced tonight): Rhode Island--Alabama--Michigan--South Carolina--New York--Mississippi--Florida.
I miss being able to pre-order an official Miss America Program Book. For a month before the Pageant, our family and friends would pass around the booklet and chose our favorites. Then while viewing the show, my mom looked for poised contestants and often picked the winner.
I've noticed many contestants this year list their age somewhere at 25-28, likely due to the recent rise in the age limit for the contest.
The states of Texas, Ohio, Mississippi and California haven't won the contest in many years.
From reading online contestant bios, I note at least two women who started as immigrants to the U.S. and two other women listing they're foster children.
Using limited internet information, I'll guess the following states may make the finals: Maryland...Mississippi...California.....North Carolina...Wisconsin.
I hope the contest is looking to once again attract the attention of a national tv channel and large, national sponsors. I'd love watching it on regular tv again!
