New Member Gift Ideas
First off I want to say Hi and ask for some help.
My good friend and past roomie just accepted a bid to join Chi O yesterday! I'm so excited for her, and wanted to get her a special gift, I was wondering if you had any ideas? I wasn't sure if you have policies on letters as a new member or anything like that.

Congrats to your friend!
Only initiated members can wear the crest, but letters are fine.
Let's see... owls are always great, as are pictures albums b/c I have tons of XO pics (I actually found one one time that was red and yellow). I really like my Chi O key chains and my mousepad (I actually had to buy that one for myself). I'm sure she'll be getting a lot of the typical stuff during big/lil sis week. If you are looking for something "really nice" maybe something engraved with the letters. (Like a jewelry box, or a pic frame for her to but a bid day pic in.)
If you are greek, (I couldn't remember from your post) you could make a pic frame with XO on one side and your sorority on the other, then get a pic of you two in your letters. (show the panhellenic spirit there!) I have a Chi O sister who's real sister was a ZTA. They got matching (same fabric and design) letter shirts, very cute!

Yeah, I bought some of those plastic picture frames for like a buck for two and then painted them with neat little Chi-O things like letter, owls, red and yellow flower...etc.
I know that Hallmark, The Disney Store and even Target have always been good finds for Owls!
When I was a pledge, I went downtown to some of the thrift stores and even snagged myself candles in the shape of owls and some paper weights made of owls.
Good luck and tell your friend about our GC community! We'd love to hear from her!

i definately agree on the owl idea..one can never have too many stuffed owls like hootie said..try any hallmark store..they usually have at least the beanie baby owl for the current years graduating class...i always thought those were cute for new members because that was their pledge class year

You all have no idea how excited I am to make something (to me it just means more, as if it truely comes from the heart) I have been sketching out little ideas and stuff. I talked to Whitney again and we are planning a lunch together soon (she switched schools last year and no longer attends MSU ) Thank you all SO much for the cute ideas

Gifts!
I love gifts!
They are so much fun. If you want to get her flowers, white carnations are the ones to buy. I personally like the picture frame idea, it's really cute!!!

So, if your friend just transferred from MSU, where did she pledge Chi O? I am from Michigan originally and just wondered if it was another Michigan school?

Another thought is you could always bid for something off of Ebay!

She transfered from MSU and decided to attend Hillsdale. Yes that is the school Paul Harvey talks about on his radio program.
