Smile bid day traditions

I was just wondering if anyone else had any special pi phi things that they do for their new members on bid day.. such as.. we "arrow" there rooms. Before bid day we cut out tons of arrows from magazine paper and then seniors go while they are at the house hanging out, taking pictures to arrow their rooms. We put them everywhere.. in books, shoes, etc. So you find arrows for months.

Oh yeh the pledge mom gets their keys and address on a envelope before they come in to greet the rest of the chapter.. they have no clue why they are giving it to us. Its always so neat to come home to after being at the house.

All the sororities here have "drive bys" where we pile the new pledge class into the back of a truck (and most of us are in there too) and we drive by all the frat houses....

we almost broke a truck!!!

While the girls are all standing on the field waiting to open their bid cards, all the sororities are waiting on their lawns for them to come running. Since my sorority's house is on Frat Row and not Sorority Row, we all meet right on the field and have the fraternity guy spectators hang a HUGE "Follow the Arrow to Pi Beta Phi" from the parking garage. Everyone knows where we are.

Then while the Bid Day activities are taking place at the house, senior sisters ride over to each new member's dorm, apartment, or house to hang door decs of a heart with angel wings. They're cute. And in dorms you can see which sorority everyone's pledging!

one thing that everyone does at msu is to go the the girls place of residence and put a cardboard symbol of your house with the girls name on it on her door all while having all your sisters come with and you run down the hall singing your house songs so that everyone can hear how excited we are to have you in our house! For pi phis we sing from waaaaaaaay down the hall super loud and we clap and give her her arrow on her door and take a pic of her with her arrow on her door and then we all run out of the residence place into our cars which are all decorated for bid day with arrows and angels and our letters and we take her off for the bid day festivities for the rest of the night to meet her new pledge class........ this year we had the special opporitunity to have tgc julie participate with us. IT was sooo much fun!!!!!! We have thirty pledges yaaay!

Well a recent activity that we IL B-D's have started is having a s'mores night by the lake! We pick up the girls and then pile into cars and drive the 5 minutes to Lake Story, where we start a fire and roast s'mores and sing PiPhi songs for hours. Then of course we come back and walk all the girls back to their dorms, singing (loudly) and clapping and all in all disturbing the peace... In PiPhi, ~T
