Question Anna Nicole: Trendsetter or Bad Example???

I'd like to preface this by saying that I am a big woman. I could probably share clothes with Anna herself.

However.

I have been seeing a disturbing trend in the wardrobes of bigger women since Anna has been back in the news.

They're getting smaller.

Now, I don't deny anyone the right to dress the way they want to, but things are getting ridiculous. I walked into my Women's Studies class last week to an empty room. I showed up late to turn in a paper. Another girl walked in behind me. She had to be carrying at least three bills. She had the whole Anna Nicole look down. She had the bleached hair, the big sunglasses...but it was below the neck that it got bad. She was wearing a tube top that BARELY covered her breasts, and exposed her entire stomach. Her pants were lowriders, with a thong sticking out.

I was embarassed for her.

Then, on my way home from class, I saw a similar situation going on. Except this girl's tube top had a little more coverage, but she was wearing booty shorts.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's not like I go to class wearing a mu-mu. I'm almost always sporting some major cleavage, but I NEVER show my midriff, and the shortest pants I wear are capris.

So, I guess my question is...

Is Anna Nicole's brazen attitude liberating big women, or just causing more snickers behind their backs?

SHINE!!! I saw this show ONCE. She was in the pizza parlor with he son and a friend.

This show is so disgusting. She appears to be an ignorant, drugged up woman. I could care less abut her clothes, it's the whole package in the way she presents herself. Give me he Osbourns any day!

BTW- Liza Minneli is going to do a reality show too!

If women strive to be like her they will set themselves back 50 years maybe.

She is ditzy. That's for sure. I just guess I have never gotten women that don't dress to flatter them.

My motto is usually "Just because they make it in your size, doesn't mean you should wear it."

It goes for bone thin girls, too. I don't want to see them showing all their sallow skin either. People should dress to flatter their own particular body type.

And Dionysus...

Anna Nicole Smith is a white trash stripper who married a millionaire that croaked, posed in Playboy, then but on about 75lb and now has a reality show on the E! channel.

Very poor example

I'm a large woman myself, although nowhere near as large as A.N.S.

She is setting a poor example. There are plenty of tasteful large women out there -- see Camryn Manheim of "the Practice," Soror Star Jones of "The View," Lorraine Toussaint of the now-gone "Any Day Now," S. Epatha Merkerson and Dianne Wiest of "Law and Order" (they were featured in an InStyle spread) and Marjorie Gubelmann, an Upper East Side socialite who is roughly a size 16.

Remember -- just because they make it, doesn't mean you have to wear it. And as a sidebar, I am utterly disappointed in Lane Bryant this season. Too many peasant tops.

For those that don't know.

Three bills = 300lb.

Yes, Cammy Manneheim is a TOTALLY classy woman.

And yes, just because it is in your size doesn't mean you should wear it. I really want to start a magazine or something specializing in college aged/ twentysomething bigger women.

I agree with you on LB this season. I like a lot of the jeans they put out, with the stretchy boot cuts, but the shirts are ALL peasant. Give me some classy simple stuff from last season!

No kidding. I'm not digging on that trend too much. I'm more of a jeans and a tank kinda girl. All this boho and flowy stuff is way too girlie for me. I have one peasant top, and one boho tank, but that is PLENTY for me.

i'm not sure if that would be the safest for your sexual health, OP. Plus she's so high all the time i'm not sure if she would notice anything.

The only thing good about the show is the music played on the closing credits- it's a Pittsburgh band called The Clarks. Nice to see them "making the big time" on anna nicole.

although i'm just a total fan of anything that has to do with Pittsburgh. Watching the Guardian last night i flipped out because it's set in pittsburgh (i've never watched it before) and he gave his address as being 980 Ellsworth Ave., which is the street a block down from me. Just kinda cool for me, the easily amused.

anyway, ANS is just a disgusting human being.

And I definately agree with whoever said just because they make clothing in your side doesn't mean you should wear it. I'm not nearly as skinny as i used to be, however i'm not "fat" by any means. But my tummy's not looking so good, so guess what. It doesn't hang out everywhere! I hate seeing someone with a roll or several sticking out over their pants, etc. Yuck!
