Thumbs up Some great "acts of kindness"

I was doing some research online for the youth group I lead, and I came across some fantastic ideas on www.egadideas.com. Under "Good Things" there are tons of "random act of kindness" projects that could be easily adapted to non-religious groups. I immediately started to think of ways for my sorority (when we get fully established) to use some of these ideas. Most of them suggest including little notes that say "courtesy of _______Church." You could easily say "from the Sisters of ABC" (or brothers).

We all know that dedication to serving the community is an important part of Greek Life. We fundraise. We advertise. We support. We demonstrate, and we advocate...

But what would happen if we stepped back for a moment, put our big annual events on hold, took a breather from our hectic planning and jam-packed agendas, and dedicated ourselves to daily or even weekly simple yet visible acts of generosity and kindness?

I have seen the absolutely tremendous results of group efforts such as Relay for Life, JDF Walk for the Cure, and other similar projects. I have participated and organized many such events, and I have been touched by the outpouring of support...

But, again, what would happen if we concentrated on a smaller scale? A few more smiling faces? A more pleasant campus? A better rep for GLOs and/or the younger generation?

Cheesy? I don't know...I would certainly like to see the results......

thanks erica

erica812,
No, it's not "cheesy." Never apologize for valuing kindness and saying so. I think there were a lot of lovely ideas that would simply be very enjoyable to participate in on this site:

I liked reading about them, and I think I will pass on some of these ideas to my local chapter.

Thanks for this.

I'm glad that you might be able to put the site to good use.
I thought some of the ideas were really great! I think the window washing and parking money ideas would be great on a college campus.

Erica
