Ernest D. Davis is the 19th Mayor of Mount Vernon, New York. Mayor Davis
served six consecutive two-year terms as a Westchester County Legislator
before he was elected as Mayor on November 7, 1995. Ernest D. Davis was
re-elected to a second term of office in November 1999.
During his tenure as County Legislator, Ernest Davis understood the problems
of our communities and fought for solutions. He led the way in advocating
recycling to help maintain the environment and to cut the cost of garbage
disposal, was a proponent of the registration of hand guns, led the fight
against the legalization of assault weapons, helped to create the legislation
that established the African American Advisory Board and led the fight to

Patrick De`Angelo Cannon, a Democrat, represents Charlotte City Council At
Large. Elected in 1993 he served four consecutive terms as the City Council
representative from District 3. This is his first term as a Council member
At-Large. He was elected by the City Council as the Mayor Pro Tem.
Cannon chairs the Council's Public Safety Committee and serves as a member on

Among Patrick Cannon's accomplishments during his time as a Council member

native of Orlando, Florida. He is the youngest of five children and has a
twin brother. He attended Orange County, Florida public schools and is a
graduate of Jones High School, where he graduated with honors in 1977. He
later received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Florida State
University in 1980 and his Master of Business Administration degree in 1989
from Orlando College. Chief Demings graduated Magna Cum Laude and is listed

session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy and is a

Bro.Lionel Lyons has been named director of the Development Services
Department.
He had served as interim director since March. As director, Lyons will
manage a department that employs 360 people with an annual budget of $30
million. The department is responsible for issuing permits and approvals for
all construction projects in the city, making sure they are safe, functional
and aesthetically pleasing.
"Lionel is another one of the city's former management interns whose
performance has been outstanding and who now is serving in a key position in
the city," said City Manager Frank Fairbanks, who made the appointment. "He
is a highly skilled manager who focuses on customer service and results."
