Body Parts Found At UF Professor's Home

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- A University of Florida professor is in jail today after police say they made a grisly discovery inside his home.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at Joseph Warner's home and found human and animal body parts. Officials say Warner worked at the Department of Neuroscience and that the body parts could have come from cadavers, but they are are still treating the home like a crime scene.

"The officers were showed two human heads, numerous human brains, human spines, various other parts contained within jars. Also there was a human shoulder with an arm attached in a Tupperware container inside of the garage," said Keith Kameg of the Gainesville Police Department.

So far, Warner has been charged with only one count of domestic violence and one count of unlawfully storing, preserving and transporting human remains

That really makes you wonder what other sorts of things he's gotten away with before this discovery! How disgusting! I can't imagine what his neighbors think now!

Actually my dear hysterical GC'ers that are often prone to jump to emotional conclusions . . .

IT looks like the person is going to get screwed for doing what other profs probbaly do (but are no doubt busy destroying or putting back even as I type) and screwed also because the police don't want to look totally stupid for originally thinking he was a Dahmer type serial killer.

You know some silly patrolman was thinking he had made his career by finding some grisly discovery, and under other circumstances (such as a more intellegent police officer) this whole situation would never have happened.

I was there..

I happened to be up there during the killings. I had already graduated the year before, but I went to help out with Rush.

I was staying at another KD's apt. One of the roomie's mothers called up around 10-11 pm, because it was on the news in Orlando or Tampa (can't remember where she was from). We turned on the 11 o'clock local news (TV20 - for you Gainesville ppl)) AND THERE WAS NOTHING ABOUT THE MURDER! It was realllllllly freaky.

Then, in the morning, it was all over the news.

The murders happened over a period of 2-3 days, they all weren't done in one night. It was like a Monday through Wednesday or Sunday through Tuesday. I remember the morning I left Gainesville, before I even saw the newspapers, that there was another murder (turns out there were 2 bodies discovered - the guy & the girl).

These were happening in apartment complexes that many of us have visited or lived in. Friends were still living there!

It really was a very upsetting time. Actually, no words could describe it. It's just a very very sad time.
