Question Off-the-Wall Question

Hello SAI's!

I asked this off-the-wall question on the Phi Mu Alpha forum, but I'll ask it here, too.

Except for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, every fraternity or sorority that I can think of has a nickname for the group and its members -- "SAI (of course)," "Sig Ep," "Kappa Sig," "Pike," or "Tri-Delta" are a few examples that come quickly to mind. I have never heard a nickname for Sinfonia or Sinfonians, though (other than "Phi Mu" from people who don't seem to realize that there is a Phi Mu sorority -- come to think of it, the only other GLO I know of with no nickname).

Just curious -- anybody ever heard or used a nickname for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia or for Sinfonians?

Some members called them "Phi Mu" but we also didn't have Phi Mu sorority on our campus. Usually we just said Phi Mu Alpha, though.

we called ours either Phi Mu (we didn't have Phi Mu sorority on our campus) or shortened it even farther to just "The Mu's"

Yup....our brothers call themselves Sinfonians. Although I'm in TBS as well and we don't have a nickname either...we don't call ourselves "TBS's" like SAI's call themselves SAI's -- and KKPsi doesn't have one that I can think of either!

Hey MysticCat81,
I just noticed your post for Phi Mu Alpha nicknames. We normally called them either PMA or Sinfonia at my university. I tried to think of a good nickname while I was sweetheart, but I never found anything that worked. However, I think I remember a friend saying that they were called "Phi guys" on her campus. Anywho, I hope this helps!

Phi Mu Delta on our campus is Phi Mud. Phi Mu Alpha is just that, or PMA. Usually, when it's just sisters, we call them "da boys". We love our boys.

Really? Because here TBS is refered to as TBS, and that's what they call themselves. Kappa Kappa Psi(we don't have them at our campus anymore...they lost their charter) doesn't seem to USUALLY have a nickname...though I've heard it refered to as "KKPsi" before.

Personally, I think it sounds very classy for them to be called just Phi Mu Alpha, or just Sinfonia.

Not all GLOs have nicknames. Here's some others on my campus that(at least here)don't have a nickname:

Phi Mu
Sigma Pi
Sigma Chi
