Any Phis in Seattle?
I haven't noticed any A Phis on greekchat who are from Seattle, but I am wondering if there are any of you out there. I am seriously considering a move to Seattle, and would love to chat with some sisters in the area. If you're out there, please let me know!!!
aoe,
Tracy

Hi Tracy,
I would drive down to Seattle from Vancouver, BC to come and visit you!
From one alumna initiate to another......
PS Here is the Alpha Phi collegiate chapter at UW...
http://students.washington.edu/alphaphi/
that should help pave the way to meeting other Alpha Phi alumnae in Seattle!

CutiePie, that would be wonderful! I've heard that Vancouver is awesome, so I might just have to come visit you, too!
It is my one goal in life right now to not have to spend another summer in Chicago -- so hopefully I'll be out there, if I can find a job. I'm working on the resumes today...

After spending last weekend at the EO I can understand why you wouldn't want to spend another summer in Chicago! Good luck on your job hunting!

Thanks Laura! I finally realized that I don't have to live somewhere with awful weather -- unbearably hot and humid all summer, and freezing all winter. I can't say that I'm terribly excited about the thought of taking another bar exam, but it will all be worth it if I can find a job!!

I am thinking of transferring to the University of Washington. I would love to live in Seattle, mostly the reason why I am interested in transferring.

I'm of course not an A Phi myself, but they do have a chapter at U Dub, and they do have a strong alum association here. The wife of a guy I know from my college alum group is a U Dub A Phi, and she is just the most wonderful lady. I'm sure both SATX*APhi and Valkyrie would have no trouble meeting some great sisters.

Come West...we'd love to have you!
Well valkyrie & SATX*APhi,
If you come to Seattle, this Vancouver girl would love to come and meet you! I do know my way around Seattle somewhat, so that would be lots of fun.
Just one thing....if you decide to make the leap, invest in a good umbrella, because in Vancouver & Seattle, it rains....and I do mean a LOT! (How do you think those trees get to be so tall and green? hee hee!)

My best friend (and bar study buddy) just took and passed the Washington Bar. She said it wasn't that bad, just different (no multistate and a different ethics exam). The idea of moving somewhere else is always apealling but I am not too big a fan of the idea of taking another bar exam. UGH! I was thinking of taking Nevada b/c I have a lot of clients who are incorporated in NV and it seems like it would be useful but I think I am going to wait until I've been a member in CA for four years so I can take the Attorney's Bar. No more multistate for me.
Let us know what happens.

I recently moved from Seattle. I attended a few alumni events and was invited to several others.
They are very involved, and the sisters in the house were great too.
The U campus is beautiful, I miss it!

Cutie, I practice criminal defense law right now, but I have mostly done bankruptcy law.
I hear a lot about the rain in Seattle, and I'm not sure how much I would like that. I don't mind rain too much, especially now that I have short hair that is unaffected by humidity/rain. No amount of rain, though, can be worse than the pure, awful HEAT and HUMIDITY we have in Chicago all summer. It's awful.

I went to Seattle today!
Bump, bump!
I was in Seattle today and it was hot and sunny! It was such a beautiful day! Of course, being a fairly recent DG alumna initiate, I had to make a pilgrammage to the UW campus where I saw all the Greek houses...
I knocked on the door of the DG house, but alas, no one was home. The Alpha Phi house was nice too--actually come to think of it, all of the women's houses were really nice (the men's houses looked rather abused, although some were maintained)....some of the NPC houses that particularly stuck out in my head were KKG, DDD and SK which were *gorgeous*.....SK had sort of a cool looking turret, although their location seemed a bit far away from all of the "action" of the Greek Row streets.
Go here to click to see photos of the UW sorority houses:
http://students.washington.edu/panhe...ororities.html
My guy friend and I had a nice time in Seattle...we had a good shop downtown at Old Navy and the Pacific Place Shopping Centre, followed by dinner in Belltown (an up and coming neighbourhood in Seattle).
So when are you moving here? Remember, you don't have to shovel rain! And there is ZERO humidity here, my friend!

Unfortunately, I might not be moving there for a while. I sent out a bunch of resumes to firms out there, and so far I've just gotten a few letters back from places that don't even want to interview me. I know it's a longshot, but I'm not giving up hope yet. I might have a better chance if I get admitted to the bar out there FIRST, and then apply to firms. We'll see what happens.
When I was out there, I had one of the best meals of my life. The food was amazing, and I had fun shopping too (but then, I always do!) -- I'd move tomorrow if I could! What's this you say about no humidity? I'm packing my bags...
CutiePie -- I have a question for you that's kind of unrelated -- you mentioned going to visit the DG house. I haven't visited any A Phi houses yet. What do you do? Do you just knock on the door and say, "Hi, I'm a DG..."?
