Big and Little Reveal Ideas
Hey guys so Im part of the AST chapter at my school and in charge of big and little reveal! Im looking for some fun and new ideas. One of the reveals we had was were a candle was past around by the littles and the big blew out the candle. Im looking for something maybe similar to that but not the same or something that could be done outside if the weather is warm. Any ideas are appreciated.
Thank you

Was looking up something else and found an interesting idea so I figured I would share with you. It was one where the bigs pretty much tangled strings outside, from tree to tree and around other peoples strings. The little had to untangle the string and find where it leads to, their big is at the end

Don't forget to read the stickies at the bottom of this thread, each has a few ideas in answer to your question.
Additional idea, probably best for a smaller pledge class: Each Big identically decorates, with ribbons/feathers/balloons/hot-glued beads/stickers/postcards/etc, a cheap (identical) pair of hair clips from the dollar store. This means both the Big and the Little in a pair will be wearing IDENTICAL hair clips at the reveal.
One chapter member might be put in charge of double-checking that each finished pair looks dissimilar from other pairs, or you could assign each Big a specific color and/or decoration type to use.
Distribution of decorated clips to Littles might be prior to a special Big/Little breakfast (one hour before the reveal). The Littles wear their clips during the breakfast. A short, fun ceremony to reveal each Big, wearing her matching clip, follows breakfast completion. The breakfast might be on Game Day, with optional game attendance and clips decorated in school emblems/colors. Again, this may be best for a smaller pledge class.

We did this. We were on the sixth floor, and had the whole floor. The pledges got off the elevator to find a string with a nametag for them. The strings went all over the common areas of the floor, with trinket-type gifts, and clues, along the way. Of course, string color changed, handwriting changed, etc. so nothing was a given. With our largest pledge classes (around 10-12 women) though, it took over an hour.
It's one of my most cherished memories.
I'm told they no longer do it because someone might think it was hazing. I don't get that, but that's part of why I don't advise a chapter directly.
For a large number of women, I can't imagine doing it indoors, or making it very convoluted, but it sure could be fun.

Chapters usually don't do these anymore because liability insurers (particularly MJ - the one that insures most NPC groups) do not like scavenger hunts. While these seem innocent and fun, it doesn't take too much for someone to think it's funny to run the yarn out a window, down a staircase, around a blind corner... the possibilities are endless. Add a big group of excited women rushing/running to find their bugs and the propensity for injuries goes way up. Sadly we live in a litigious society so the question advisors and other volunteer leaders have to ask is whether there are avoidable dangers that can be prevented. It's easier to do a banker "no scavenger hunts" rule than to personally supervise an event to be assured it is reasonably risk-free.

I like this one from a chapter that I advised: All of the bigs painted a sheet as a banner with her little's name on it. Each big stood behind her sheet in a big line, so that it looked like a wall. The littles stood in front of the sheet with her name on it, and on the count of three all of the sheets were dropped, revealing the bigs. The littles took their sheet/banner home with them. Most of them hung them up in their rooms.

I understand "easier". I don't like it; I understand it.
I also understand that we (meaning all greek groups) say we're made up of men and women, but we treat them like boys and girls. Solely my opinion, and obviously not representative of NPC or any other council or school.
