is this tacky?
ok.
My school is small. Anyways, my chapter is hardly known on campus b/c we are so new. Our recruitement is 2 weeks into school. So would it be tacky, if i wore my AST letters or a sorority shirt every day to class until recruitement starts? I have a few classes that will be majority freshman and since i can't talk to them i thought it would be good just for them to see my letter. So is that tacky or not?

NO WAY!
no way thats an excellent idea. infact i know my whole chapter (minus rho chi) will be doing that for about the first month bc we are quite small. if you still think its a little tacky make a tote bag with your letters i have 2 of them and its a great way to show off letters w/o looking like you never do laundry!! ashes

I think that IS what you are suppose to do!! On our campus we have rush 7 weeks into the school year, however NPC states that we CAN talk to the PNM's. I dont think alot of campuses realize that....You might want to check and see why you cant on your campus b/c strict silence hurts more than it helps!!
Good luck!!

Not only is it a great idea, it's something you should talk your sisters into doing as well. Read the "Conversation from the other side" thread, I think a lot of what I said there applies to you also. Living in your letters is a great way to increase your visibility, just remember to have fun while you're wearing them. Also, I don't know if you're allowed to do this, but you might want to put signs and sisterhood collages in freshman dorm bathrooms, and make sure every sister has door decorations. The more you display your letters, the better.Best of luck to you during Recruitment!

that's really interesting that you can do that because the national girls at our school can't wear letters from the first day of school until the end of formal recruitment. The only thing you can wear is the shirt that advertises Formal Recruitment. I never understood it but it was the advantage for us. Our girls would pull out every Chi Delt shirt they owned and wore it around recruitment time. It's hard if you just rushed last semester and you only have one shirt tho... i feel sorry for my new lil. If your girls can't remember to wear letters, designate a day where your entire chapter wears letters. We used to do that. Every Tuesday.

On our campus the three and a half weeks before rush we wear panhellenic rush shirts one day and then letters or dress for badge the other days....it's not tacky at all. Good Luck

It's been a while since I was active, but we were always strongly encouraged to wear letters to class before recruitment. I agree with the advice to talk your sisters into doing this. It's one of the strongest tools you have, so put those letters to good use! Good luck.
