whats your fav ZTA song??
This is my first time on Greekchat and so here is my question...
What is your favorite ZTA song or chant and why?
Mine is "Conversion" (Ohhh...you will be a Zeta if you know what's good for you....) because it is special to our chapter! We chant it at the top of our lungs everytime we get the chance!!

My favorite is Friends, which for some reason my chapter only sang the first verse to, but it's my favorite song.
The other that makes my list is a song that our Music chair made up by changing some of the words to Sarah McLachlan's Angel. It was beautiful and it still gets me all misty....

Allison

I have to agree with you moorezeta aout "Today and Forever." I love that song. But my favorite song is the one we sing at Preference by BREAD. I am not sure the name of it, (I think it is "Everything I Own")ut it is number 2 on the "Best of Bread" CD. We also sang it for our 15th anniversary in March. Our alumnae were all crying.
You sheltered me from hope
You kept me warm, you kept me warm,
You gave my life to me,
Set me free, set me free,
Finest years I ever knew,
Were all the years I had with you,
And I would give anything I own,
Give up my life, my heart, my home,
I would give everthing I Own

Favorite ZTA song
I agree with all of you "Today and Forever" fans. I remember singing it in sisterhood circles many years ago when I was an active. We would often start it with "The Call" and sing it in rounds; it was truly beautiful.

The Call
EtaPhiZta, what is "The Call"? Our Chapter dosn't sing it, but when my best friends mother, who was a Zeta at Baylor found out I pledged ZTA, she sang a song on my answering machine and I think it was that one. Does it say..."Do you hear the call of ZTA calling...calling..." or something to that extent?

Lyrics to "The Call"
The words are:
Hear me calling, hear me calling -
Zeta, Zeta.
Listen, listen -
Do you hear me calling?
I hear the call of Zeta.
It always is within me,
And makes me ever loyal
To my Fraternity.

As far as cheers go, my favorite is Nickelodeon ("Oh that turquoise blue and gray, they both stand for ZTA, they make you want to shout and say, 'I'm proud that I'm a Zeta!'..."). As a chapter though, the Conversion song is the one that gets us going.
My favorite "slow" songs are 2 that we sing at Pref - "We'll Never Say Good-bye" and "And So it Goes." Those ones always get me boo-hooing.
On another note, for some reason my chapter sings "The Call" different from other chapters. We sang it at Zeta Day, and all of us were like, "Huh?" But I guess each chapter has its own way of doing certain things.

Oh yeah! I just thought of something else. I saw the words to this song on the Georgia Tech chapter's website. Does anyone else know this one?
If I had a daughter, sir,
I'd dress her in blue and gray,
and put her on the campus
to be a Z-T-A.
But if I had a son, sir,
I'll tell you what he'd do.
He would date a Zeta
like his daddy used to do!
I think it's so cute. I wish I knew the tune.

Ok, so I'm a dork and didn't know that "And So It Goes" is a Billy Joel Song. I just downloaded it here at work and just the tune got the tears flowing!
Can someone please pm me the words to our version. I wish I could remember!
Besides this song I love "Today and Forever"! Actually I can't think of any Zeta songs I don't love.

I JUST learned the Conversation song @ Convention. It was the first time I had ever heard it. Apparently we need to use our song books a little better up in PA.
I love Friends @ Pref too. But we're always soo teary eyed we don't look too happy to be singing about sisterhood!

I will always love our chapter song, my sister and I....
My sister and I came to UT
In search of a chapter
The best there could be
We looked and we looked for many a day
and so on and so forth,
I also like ZTA Sweetheart

I have 2 and they are not sung often.
Pride of Our Hearts and
God Gave to the Wise Men
They are both oldies, but goodies!

I am definately giving "Today and Forever" my vote. Its in my head all the time. And one of my fondest memories of ZTA (although I only joined a year and a half ago) is of getting in a circle and singing it at another Zeta's wedding around her and her Lambda Chi groom. She and I have been friends forever and I was so happy that I was a part of such an amazing sisterhood with her and her younger sister! It was only a few months after I had joined and if I hadn't realized it on bid day, that moment would have defiantely been when I knew it was meant to be. I love you PJ and Sabby!!!
