Gossip among the greeks!

I would like to start by saying EEEE-Yip to everyone.

I'm a neo as of this Spring and have recently been in the spot light for gossip among the greeks. However, I try to keep a low profile and it seems that the gossip is only coming from those I don't know but seem to know me.

I would like some advise as to what to do or if this has happened to you what you did to overcome it.

Unfortunately, once you become a member of a sorority your personal life changes because everything you say, the way you walk, the clothes you wear, etc. is put under the microscope and you become Destiny the SGRho and the entire organization is praised or blamed for whatever you do because you are greek!

It's just like all of the stars and how their lives are no longer private because a lot people wish that they have what that star has or they want to be just like that person.

Just don't take it too personal, enjoy being in our Blue-ti-ful sisterhood, always strive for "Greater Service, Greater Progress" and keeping being the good person that God wants or would have you to be.

Dont feel bad because Im getting the same thing too. But my sorors told me that when I cross I will no longer be myself. I will become HolyGhost7 that SGRHO!!! However, if it makes you feel any better here is what has been said about me by greeks and non-greeks on my campus....I like to refer to them as haters:

1) Im pregnant ( my personal favorite...if I am Id like to know how many months)

2) Ive heard slanders like SG ho.... ( but I dont sleep around and have not slept with one single solitary person on campus)

3) I think Im all that because I got letters

Those are just a few. You dont have to do anything to earn a repuatation. People always have to have something to talk about and there are stigmas that come with being in a sorority that you just cant escape. I dont know half of the people spreading these rumors. Overnight I went from being HolyGhost 7 that is in the Gospel Choir, Campus Ministries, or Circle K...to all of the above.

My advice is that you dont do anything to feed into the stereotypes and rumors. And....Keep your head up high because you are a student leader now whether you like it or not and there are many who wish they can be in your shoes. I hope your gossip isnt as bad as mine...but hey God doesnt give me anything I cant handle....its all humor to me now

I agree with what most SoRHORs posted, but w/ a twist.

You will never escape the rumors! As you change, so will they; so my advice, DO YOU!!! Function as you normally do, the people who know you won't be influenced by the lastest lie about you, and those should be the only opinions you care about. You can please some of the people some of the time, but you will never be able to please ALL of the people ANYTIME!! There are pessimists among us that will find the slightest flaw in everything, and if they can't find a flaw, some will make one up- instead of using the time to better themselves. Go figure.

Just know that the benefits of this soRHOrity far outweigh the rumors....

this will be the shortest reply, but i tell you, soRHOrs, it works:

every now and then, you just have to shake the haters off.

if you know who you are and you know what you are about, then just shake it off and let 'em run and tell that!
