I went to my first step show in years, as I attended the Philly Step Correct contest this past weekend. First, let me say that all of the teams (from all of the organizations - except that one Sigma Gamma Rho squad...sorry) did a fantastic job. I was extremely impressed with the way the teams utilized the steps of the past while being innovative with creating new ideas. Clearly, the level of "stepping" is far superior than it was even 10 years ago and indeed, I was so impressed when I left I thought the issue of deciding a "winner" was almost pointless. In my opinion, you can get past a threshold of "great" to which trying to decide differences almost belittles the process. That was my impression after leaving that show.
If you missed it, the two teams of Sigmas brought down the house, as well as two teams of Zetas. Furthermore, SGRho, AKAs, Deltas, Iotas and Alphas (eventhough they messed up your music) also put on excellent performances. The Kappas were okay, although just a cut below the other performances (sorry).
Overall, it was a great show and well worth the $20.

I might have to rethink my "get rid of all undergrads" position. Maybe, maybe not.
