No, not Shaq, Stanley O'Neal**COO of Merril Lynch:

RANK: 1
Age: 50
Company: Merrill Lynch
Title: COO
Website: http://www.merrilllynch.com
One of the first black students to integrate Atlanta's West Fulton High School, O'Neal has risen to what's arguably the most powerful position at the quintessential Wall Street firm. Though he is technically the No. 2 guy, he's clearly running the show (see accompanying story). Just about the only thing O'Neal has let CEO David Komansky do lately is control the spin on Merrill's recent analyst scandal--a savvy move that leaves his own name untarnished. Don't be surprised to see this grandson of a slave step into the CEO's shoes sooner than 2004, the year he's scheduled to take the job.

Stepping off subject a minute....

CTFU! CTFU! CTFU!

Diesel Daddy is powerful in a lot of ways, yes. But I haven't seen anything indicating that he plans to become a business man a la Magic Johnson.

I can't wait until I have time to read this in detail. Thanks Blutang for pulling out the sistahs
One name that I missed seeing was Ann (I think) Fudge, who is (was??) the CEO/COO (something big!) at Maxwell House which is, I think, associated with Kraft.
Does anyone know if she is still there?

you're very welcome!
Most of the time I'm on after 10 pm and if I make any posts, about 95% of the time I have to go back and edit because I fell asleep or was nodding off while writing the post! LOL

Thumbs up From the article

There was a good quote from Kim Crawford (No. 45) on the list. She's a VP at Dell Computer:

"The only way African Americans are going to be uplifted is if we make major strides in the business front. The keys to improving the community are improvement in education and improvement in our participation in capitalism." (I added the italic).

I like this kind of thinking.
