Feeling the Effects of Sorority Life

Ok...so I am curious if anyone else is already feeling the effects of MTV's show...

I am BIG TIME!!!!
all i can say is GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

today is Monday and already 2wice today i have heard comments about "sorority girls"

first time today: after work i was leaving and i happened to be wearing a Phi Mu shirt after work since i had a sisterhood lunch thingy after...soooooo im leaving and one of my co workers one of the high school girl was like.. hey i didnt know you were in a sorority...is it like the MTV show...cause if i can live in a house like that i will for sure pledge....i didnt even know where to BEGIN to explain that we arent like that..and we dont have houses like that...

2nd time today...i was walking back to my dorm from class and i passed through the student union cause a few of my sisters and some friends were there hanging out...
well im walking by and this girl who was sitting at a bench with a friend.. was like (to her friend not to me) hey did you see that new sorority show on MTV...those sorority girls are sooo dumb...ok i was so frustrated already (bad day in class) so i just walked past.....part of my mean side wanted to whip around and scream at them or something but i just decided to come vent here...

not to mention my mom has started to get very curious about my "social life" and i know she watches the show...she trusts me and she knows i havent done anything like those "girls gone wild things" but you know moms...they get curious paranoid..you know the deal...

i can just imagine what kind of questions girls are going to be coming up with this fall rush!!! i guess i should get used to it...
anyways has anyone else felt the effects of this show???

im curious to see what "outsiders" have said to you about this show...

Maybe I am living under a rock but other than this message board, I have never heard any discussion about this show. I am a rho chi in the fall so maybe it will come up then.

When I was planning my wedding there was a discussion board that I used to frequent all the time. It was only partial wedding and then a lot of non-wedding subjects. Anyway, I hadn't been on there in forever but last Sunday I went to just check it out. In the media forum there was a thread about the show. None of the women on the board had been in a sorority, and all of their posts were about how the show has just reaffirmed their belief that they never belonged in a sorority anyway, and how awful sororities are in general.

These women had no idea it was a local, no idea that the pledge house was abnormal, no idea that sorority women don't just stand around and talk behind PNMs' backs at recruitment events, no idea that point blank asking religous affiliation or the like is abnormal. Needless to say they were surprised by the truth.

It just made me really sad, because this is what people who don't know any better are thinking.
