Question Philanthropy

What do you guys do for your philanthropy week? We do a football tournament and call it "Mardi Gras" week. I don't know why we call it that, I think there used to be some sort of significance. Also how much money do you usually raise? We did not raise what I think is adequate for philanthropy week. I am thinking of running for philanthropy chair and I need some good ideas for improvement. Thanks for your help! Pi love!

allegheny doesn't have a philanthropy week! we are SMALL! the school, that is... anyways, we have alot of small philanthropy projects, fundraisers that we do... we used to do i spy an adpi, but at dlc this past feb. we found out we aren't supposed to... has anyone come up with a good substitute for i spy? it was so good for pr for recruitment (which is deferred here). we also do a penny war of the classes and sell hershey hugs and kisses for valentines day... and collect canned goods for rmh at the end of the semester cause we're far away from the house while we're at school, but alot of the sisters live in/near pittsburgh and can drop everything off after finals... a kid's fair with other organizations that was throw a pie at a pi, but became throw a pie at an adpi or phipsi this year... what else... i know there's more (other than your usual volunteering that everyone does) but i can't really think it's too late! we really are looking for a bigger activity (i.e. like dg's anchor splash on other campuses, etc) to do in the fall so if anyone has a good idea let us know!

We call our philanthropy AQUA PI. Because we are in AZ it is HOT during school, and so our events involve a lot of water! Last year we started out on Thursday with I spy an ADPi, where the participating fraternities get our girls wet in any way they can during the school day. We finished up on Saturday with a day of matress races, slip and slides, and football. This year we are adding skit night to the events, which should be a blast. We raised over 1,000 last year! Each fraternity donates 100 dollars, and there were up to 17 fraternities that could participate. Hopefully it will be even bigger this year!

We contacted Ronald McDonald Children's Charities and they donated boxes of cookies. These were sold in the Student Union. It was a big success.
