When I was in 10th grade biology, a student was reading aloud from the textbook and came to the word organism. He said, "orgasm" instead. I wasn't in that class, but I had it next and these students were walking out laughing hysterically.

I'll add:
titillate
Shih-Tzu
dictionary

something like that happened to me once....I asked my mom what the difference was between an organism and something else (no "o" word)
She thought i said orgasm, so later on when my dad and I were in the car he brought it up...I just laughed and I corrected them...

another word:

Matriculate

There was a teacher at my high school who was assigned to cafeteria duty... he would go up to various students and tell them to be careful about masticating in public. Not many of them knew that masticate = chew ... there were several red faces

One of my sisters can't stand the words moist, soiled, or panty. You can't even say the words around her or she freaks out...of course, we would always torture her and use them all together when she was around.

In vet. school the professors always called dogs "bitches". It is funny to see a straight laced professor stand up in front of class and go on and on about "this bitch has this and that bitch did that etc.."-took some getting use to.

We also had one professor get into trouble because he liked to say the word pussy-as in something with a purulent discharge (pus). He would say it in the most flirtatious way though-he was very creepy-yuk!!!

Thumbs down Icko

Hehehe I am one of those weird people who has a list of words they can not STAND, regardless of what context they're used in. Mine includes:

-Moist
-Thrust
-Package
-Unit
-Juice (don't ask I am weird!)
-Jelly
-Tangy

Those are just a couple, I know they don't "sound" dirty in most cases, I just don't like them so much!!!

Also the people across the street from me at home, they're last name is Grucock. I feel really bad for their kid.

There is a GREAT George Carlin comedy bit about words that sound dirty:

pussyfoot
beer nuts
cumquat

I can't remember any more, but it was hilarious!

What about cummerbund, red snapper, and just about any use of the word BALLS?

Back in high school, during my senior year we had a ***HOT*** exchange student from Austrailia. I was the first guy to ask her out, and I invited her to go to the football game with me that Friday night. During the course of our converstation, I said, "We can go root for the home team."
Her face turned red and she looked at me like I was crazy for about a minute there. Finally, she told me that Down Under, the wood "root" is slang for HAVING SEX!!!
After the initial uncomfortableness wore off, we had a good laugh about it, and it became a running joke for all of our friends!
