Famous people helping rush

Ok so do you think that having famous people coming out to Rush would help out any?? I am pretty sure that the Sigma Chi's here are going to have a couple famous country singers out here like the Judds and maybe even Ashley Judd do you think that they should do this or just try to do rush w/o the help of famous people??!!

Hmmm, this is an interesting topic. I would think that having famous people at recruitment would help attract more PNM's to that particular org. I also think that if the PNM's do not click with the actual collegiate members, though, they may not be interested in that particular org. as much as they were initially because of the famous members.

Just curious, do the Judds usually go for Sigma Chi's recruitment?

I think for publicity it may be good, but then you have to wonder why they are really rushing.

They may just be in rush just to meet the famous person, or want to join a group just to be in the group with that famous person.

I would be careful for backfiring.....

Whaaaaat???

I would really raise my eyebrows if a Fraternity was having famous women attend their rush. I guess it would be a big draw of PMNs thinking "Cool!!! This group has connections!!!" But then, I would think to myself "Why do they do this during rush? Something's not right here. . ."

But then again, I'm kinda analytical that way (hence the "PSYCH" in my name! )

What kind of connection do the Judds have with Sigma Chi??? I'll have to ask Mr. PsychTau about that one.

I think that Laura Bush helped out last year at the UT chapter of Theta-I am sure it helped-of course she does have a connection-her daughter is there.

I think it's a bad idea. I agree with PsychTau -- it would seem that something is not right. It's like saying, hey, we're not cool enough on our own to attract members, so we need famous people to help us. Isn't the point of joining a sorority or fraternity to find friendship and all the other good things we're always talking about here? Famous people have nothing to do with that, unless of course they are members and are actively involved with the organization.

I could see a famous person being involved if they were from that chapter, but doing a sort of publicity stunt during rush seems sketchy to me......

Speaking of the Bushes and Theta, do you think more people will want to join that chapter now that Jenna is a member? Or would they be turned off to it because of Jenna's image?

Speaking with some of the AXO's at Texas-it didn't seem like a big deal. Rush as usual basically, but I can't speak for all of them or the other soroities.

When I was in college, some of the fraternities would ask some of us sorority members who were well-known on campus to come over and act as hostesses during their parties. Basically talk to the PNM and circulate.

Isn't that kind of the same thing as having celebrities helping out with rush, albeit on a much smaller scale?

Couple years ago, Elisabeth Dole visited our Delta Delta Delta chapter in Iowa State, and it was quite a publicity ... well, at least the potential rushees will have different respect to join the GLO in general.
